Veteran's Mazdabeast 3 Big Turbo Build

:
08 Mazdaspeed 3 GT
I have been gone for a little while...To catch everyone up with what happened, I had a rod escape on the highway on ramp. I wasn't even on it hard, but it's ok because this is what has happened since...I'm going huge, and I have the pictures to prove it. Props to Madvillian for getting me headed in the right direction.

I will be fabricating my own 4 inch intake. I also will be ordering the Tial wastegate as well. The battery will be moved to the trunk, new plugs, and I will have to alter the bellmouth on my CS downpipe to fit the turbo, but everything is coming together. This weekend I'll be ripping out the motor and posting pics of pure destruction. I haven't even seen it yet. I only saw the puked oil all over the highway and tow truck, boy was he pissed.

wooohoooo!!!!! bring on da ppppaaiiiinnnnnn.

gl buddy. and sorry 2 hear about your loss.

Yummy turbo bro :D Keep up with the pics love build threads. Wish I would of took more of mine lol.

dropped the block off to have the cylinders bored to fit the .020 pistons and also found this waiting for me...

i didnt know a 44mm wastegate was this huge! i have an inclination that there are going to be tight spots in my engine bay!

ripped the valve cover and intercooler out to be powder coated. the core will be flat black with a red mazdaspeed logo in the center. the piping will be crinkle red with black couplers. the valve cover will be crinkle black. the cold side of the turbo will be crinkle red. my custom intake will be crinkle red. and finally, my intake manifold will be crinkle red. I also was able to get underneath to see exactly how bad the damage was from the detonation and here are the pics...

also...the engine will be all the way out on sunday. after that, its just a matter of getting the block back from getting the cylinders bored, getting my steedspeed mani in the mail, and getting a new oil pan.

you know what really hurts the soul...the fact that i was doing, like, 50 mph when it happened lol. and a trucker passed me blowing his horn and laughing at me. but thats ok, this thing is going to be bulletproof. the guy helping me with my build built my friends evo...848 HP on a mustang dyno...

and it still has ice cold AC and power steering!

Im in the same boat as you right now. I threw a rod cruising down the highway like 4 hours from home. I am also going to same route as you minus the external wastegate. I just ordered the Gt3071r bolt-on with the anti-surge housing. However i had my pistons and rods made by manley performance. Did you get your block sleeved?

I envy you man.
Stoked to see how your build turns out.
Good luck (2thumbs)

im hoping to hit 500HP on the all out race tune and 400HP on the street tune. I know everyone is going to yell wheels and tires as soon as i post this, but that issue will be addressed as well. and, no, i am having the block bored .020 over. the CP pistons just barely dont fit so im not violating the blocks structural integrity too much. the turbo from precision is rated up to 605HP so its just a matter of getting it to the wheels. My clutch is also rated to about 500HP i believe and i dont plan like launching like a horse out of the gate so i wont be dropping trannys every day.

Nice parts! I like the CP Pistons, they make a quality piece, prob best on the market right now i think. We've used these a few time at work in a few of our builds. And i like the powdercoating, was thinkin shooting my valve cover wrinkle red this spring.
