Very Low Idle Mazda Protege

Hello, This is my first post and im in a bit of a panic. For the longest time my car has been at a low idle (200-300 in D, 500 N) My step dad told me just to turn my idle up and my friend told me to check out the forums and get an opinion because hes sure its something else. I have searched youtube and read many articles saying its usually the iac valve. I know i have a check engine light on but thats gone on and off randomly over the past year after i installed a new air intake filter. I have checked the seals and they are secure.

Tomorrow im taking it into oriellys or napa to check out the error code. What is some advice you have for me?

egr valve is a commen problem ive read about. my speed just started idling rough like a week ago. try cleaning it and see if that helps. im guessing myself so let me know what you find out. please and thank you

thats what it was for me a while back (EGR Valve). There is a how to fo cleaning it. Kinda a pain to get to, at least was for me.

IAC valve. I have had the same problem for a long time. Just changed mine. Took it out for a test drive. Finally idles right again. First time in a long time.

Sea foam it first. Disconnect the IAC and reset the ecu then turn the car on and see how the ecu reacts, then plug the IAC back in and that will answer one question. Does the motor jog up and down? If it does that is definitely a IAC problem otherwise its something else.

i did coils, plugs, wires,and crank sensor and my car just outa the blue starts idleing at like 300 at stop lights when ever it feel like it. dude from work thinks its cause im runnin both the stock BPV and a BOV thats dumped to atmosphere so hes saying the cold could be screwing with how its running. but im not too sure cause its not an all the time thing my first guess is my egr just cause my old f150 would act the same way. but when im at highway speeds the cars not smooth i always thought it was just cause its stiff suspension but now im kinda thinkin

cool thanks. ill have to clean it when it gets warmer here. and i was looking at a new one at my work and the new one has like 3 hoses running off of it???? would anyone know why that would be??

The 'new' EGR would be the Canadian revised EGR that has coolant lines that run to it.
