I had brought this up in the Admin forum (sssh) (it's a secret) and I'd like the input of YOU!..the members of this fine community...Yah or Nay...Vote and post yer feedback!

What is it? It's basically like a VBB/Forums version of EBAY's seller rating system...check out this link http://forums.probetalk.com/traderratings.php? to see it in action on a Probe site...Let me know what you think!

do it. you know you want to... It would be easier than the potential scammer title for this reason:

-potential scammers are people who can one time only f*ck someone and disappear, but what about the sellers that take 8 months to send something out and lie through their teeth? They get a scammer tag, but once they have resolved everything, it goes away. Personally, if i am about to buy from someone who takes a long time to send or has had problems before, then i would want to know about it. the trader rating would work well in this situation.

$0.02

It would be nice to have but ONLY if it can somehow be monitored or controlled to only allow "valid" feedback. I guess I'm afraid of it turning into something useless like the reputation points -- where friends just prop eachother up.

That's my main concern as well...

um...what exactly is the Vbulletin rating system? and what is the difference between what we have now and that?

gotta make an informed decision people! (shady)

I'm a little confused on how this would actually work (I can't surf within either of those other forums without being a member). Would users be allowed to give feedback only when a transaction has actually been made? How would it be controlled? I'm in favor of some kind of system, but I'd be curious on how it would actually work.

I agree. It sounds cool but what is to stop a scammer from creating multiple accounts on the forum to boost his/her rating.

The rating system stopped working ages ago on ebay.

For this to work properly, both buyer and seller should be charged a small fee, a dollar or something. This would discourage fake transactions.

This just goes to show you how immature the forum members are here (not talking about anyone in particular). There are over 20,000 members on the MR2 board, and the above system works perfectly. I'm sure there are some problems, but I do have to say that Bill Strong (the guy who runs that forum) is iron fisted when it comes to running his board and I think the board is better for it. Sure the rifraf show up, but they find quickly that it's not worth it.

Well, if someone here is going to monitor the system for users creating multiple accounts, leaving feedback w/o purchasing anything, and other issues then the system will work great. However, without someone monitoring everything, it will add more confusion and a false layer of trust instead of helping vendors and buyers.

SRTforums uses a smiliar method too I believe. Kinda funny this came up today, I was going to suggest it. As long as it is controlled and has checks I think it would be a good idea.

There has to be something to only let feedback happen after a transaction though.

Can anyone confirm...answer some of the questions raised about this system so far?

I dont get it? this is only for members who buy/sell? what about those who provide valuable info.
