Hey, i lvie in quebec canada and i leased my protege5 about a year ago, when i started the lease i decided to get a "valeur a neuf" deal, somethign i regret doing right now.

A few people on my street have been gettign there cars stolen recently, including a protege5 so i am starting to get a little worried but the problem is the nightmare most of these people have been telling me they've been going through trying to get the new vehicle (they also have valeur a neuf) and I can feel it will be anyday now before my car gets targeted, my question is does anyone know exactly how the valeur a neuf works with Mazda? and if i wanted to get out of it completely and jsut start looking for anotehr car would i be able to?

Thank for anyones input.

what is a 'valeur a neuf'?

us dumb 'mericans dont talk no canada talk...............

Replacement value..If his car is stolen or damaged beyond repair ,he should get a new vehicule equal to the one he lost.Supposedly without charge to him(deductables not included).I bought that protection when I purchased my car a year ago.

Exactly, only problem is the "supposedly" i don't like that.

i was hoping someone can enlighten me!

the guy at the dealership told me soemthing like let's say in 2005 you lose your car they will give me a brand new 2005 protege5 sicne the 2002 is no logner avialablwe, sounded sweet but i believe i will have to pay the difference, which really i hope not!

So basically is it worth it? and if ever i don't want the car anymroe if it gets stolen am i entrapped in the replacement value?

dam if u didnt have to pay the difference id blow the car up for ya get a new one ; ) lol

that was the plan ;) but now that something is going on in my neighbourhood people are telling me it's not what i think and they had to pay up to an extra 3000$ to get a new model.... SOOOOO i am def. worried but those were honda's they were talkign about

Valeur a neuf : U get the same thing brand new.
the other one, like i got : i stop making payments but have to find a new ride.

Ok is there any way of getting out of the valeur a neuf?

I just got into a accident yesterday and still waiting for the estimation, it might be a total loss and personally i am really starting to dislike the protege5, in the last year things have been failing that really shouldn't, but that is beside the point.

I get the feeling they will ask for more money to get me a brand new protege5, which is a waste of my money, if anyone can please enlighten me and tell me whether or not it is mandatory to get a new car or can i tell them it's the end of it and move on with my life?

I tried calling them, very helpless people, thye have no clue about the valeur a neuf for the ones that have heard of it, they tell me to contact the insurance company when in fact i bought the valeur a neuf with Mazda....

Hmm... I've never heard of anything like "valeur a neuf" at all.

Here in the US I have my regular auto insurance which insures my vehicle up to its current book value (KBB/NADA). Should something happen to the car where damages exceed the value, the insurance company considers it a total loss and issues me a check in the amount of the car's value. Should the car be stolen, and not recovered within 30 days, I believe the insurance company sends me a check for that as well.
