Vacuum questions

So when I got my car the vacuum was ~20-22. Then I had to take my car to a Mazda Dealer and when I got my car back, my vacuum is now at ~10-12. Can anybody explain this to me?

Vacuum leak, what service was the dealership doing? I would check all the vacuum lines and go from there. The protege manifold has 5 visible ports and 2 hidden in the middle of the manifold where there is a 1 way check valve. The big port on the back is the brake booster and the 2 by the fuel injectors are for the pcv valve.

Well I took it so they could fix the sputter And one of my bolts to my exhaust manifold was broken. And for real, they didn't fix any of those things. They seriously didn't fix any thing on it. Whoever had my car before me was running it at 15 psi! So they turned that down to 7 psi and made my vacuum less. That's all they did. I should've just did it all myself but I didn't know what was up, I just got the car when I took it to them. I had to figure it all out by myself after words anyways. So what did they do to make me have a vac leak? Cause I know I didn't do it. It was just how I said around 20 before I took it, then down to 10 after I got it back.

vacuum leak at one of the lines, possible loose coupler. wastgate is shot and leaking. cracked exhaust manifold or loose manifold. bad/leaking stock bpv. those are all the most common really.

Typical dealer genius at work! Most likely something is not connected. Now you get to hunt down the results of their less than impressive knowledge and skill set to fix it. Adjusting the boost pressure has nothing to do with it.

Check all of your connections at the throttlebody, intercooler and turbo. Then examine all of your vacuum hoses, WGA, BPV, Intake manifold, on the firewall etc. I think you get the idea. Go over everything until you find what's not connected.

Have you checked your plugs and or wires for the cause of the sputter? One broken exhaust manifold bolt should not be an issue as long as the others are nice and snug.

Ok. So my WGA IS one of the problems that I know about right now. As for the sputter. I got new plugs and wires sputters gone. And I do have a hair line crack in my manifold. Where could I get another one? I'd like an aftermarket one that isnt expensive..

replace the wastegate. and as for a cheap replacement, u can buy an ebay manifold from obx if u want. just dont expect it to lest too long. and make sure your motor mounts are in good shape to prevent your manifold from cracking again. too much engine lash from bad mounts are one of the main reasons for manifolds cracking.

you can find good ones that bolt-up to stock in the marketplace. i'm not too sure who offers them new, right now.

steedspeed, MAM, both very good... the thunder is OK, OBX is not that great.

Obx on ebay is now like $400 it used to be like $250 so its no longer worth getting it just because its cheap

OBX makes a T3 mani but the T2 ebay mani is just a chinese knock off. OBX is no steedspeed

So does SteedSpeed make a manifold that'll bolt right up to factory turbo? Cause when I see T3, I think T3/T4 turbo.

Steedspeed no longer makes manifolds but did post a thread recently saying he may start making replacement manis again.
