VA State Inspection?

Has anyone had any problems getting a sticker with aftermarket springs, struts or coilovers? Got Tokica struts with eibach springs totalling 2" and the mech said state law says "no mods to the suspension". Anyways, how to get around this now, anyone know a good shop in NoVa. I am in Fredericksburg.

i don't remember reading ANYTHING about modified suspension being illegal, especially the bolt-on parts you listed, since they can simply be considered 'stock replacements'

go ask another inspection station.

I passed my last inspection w/ MSP struts, 2" drop on Sprint springs and a 19mm AWR swaybar. Oh yeah, and I had the carputer in then too..... I passed. I've got Illuminas, a 21.5 AWR bar and GC coilovers now, I still expect to pass. I just went to a Shell station in Annandale.

Next time, ask him to show you the code in the book.... It doesn't exist.... The only part in the code book involving altered suspension involves tire-body clearance, the lowest part of the body being lower than the bottom of the wheel, and headlight adjustment...

I've just had good luck I guess...last year I brought my car to a locally owned Firestone and it went down like this.

Me: Need an inspection on my Mazdaspeed protege

Firestone: A what?

Me: The grey car outside

Firestone: Oh!,...Is your car new?

Me: Yep!

Firestone: How many miles?

Me: 8,000

Firestone: Hold on...(Wait for five minutes) (During this time frame they pulled my car into the shop, and scraped off my old sticker and placed on a new one)

They didnt inspect crap!

Firestone: Okay sir that will be $15.00

Later on I went back to driving. Zoom-zoom-zoom

My friend owns this shop too!!! 2 years ago he just gave me a sticker for my Tacoma that had a 6" lift an 33's. Some friend. I think he had a bug up his ass that day or just jealous of my new ride!!!

ill try it lol. i mean nothin wrong on my car just was trin to get a different car. just worried about passing inspection to things i wanted to do to it. espically emissions. anyone know how emissions work in va??

I can't remember if I ever got an emissions test during my inspection. One guy even complimented me on my exhaust cause he liked the sound of it

lol dude i reall need to go to that shop that you got it at. im thinkin baout puttin in headers, but dont wat to be failed cuz of emissions... i dont know if they even have it here either. anyone else know?
