thank you, I knew I wasnt going insane. The motor in the 69 trans am was the same as the RS camaro, the 302, so it could compete in the trans-am races?
Hmm dunno about that.. I was pretty sure it was the 335hp 400 HO engine? Had the optional Ram Air IV bumping it up to 345hp....

God its late.. I gotta go to bed...

Did you see latest Hot Rod magazine?? You can now by a brand new, all steel 69 Camaro in a crate.......for like $14k .CARS in NC is sellin em, only in convertibles though, they figured since the demand was high enough that they already made damn near every sheetmetal piece, why not go ahead an put it together an sell a brand new body....they dont have any means of stamping the hardtop yet, but they will soon........and next they plan on buildin 67 Mustangs

American Muscle = Pre-1973 (no catalytic convertors, YAY!!) OR Post-1993, with the advent of the LT1, the Viper motor, then the LS1, the LS6, the 4.6Liter DOHC cobra engine, and now finally..... the LS2. That thing is a ******* beast. 6.0 liters and 400HP in the new Corvette and GTOs. I want one.

Everything between those years had so much smog control and terrible fuel injection, at one point the power in the Corvette dipped to right around 200Hp, or even below. Sad, sad days.

Speaking of, did you know you can buy the Viper V-10 crate engine now? I wanna see a mid-engine P5 V10 conversion.

my other car is a '75 Gran Torino Wagon. Easily the biggest car on the road, and with a 400ci engine it hauls, even with 8 passengers.
I figure once I install a 4-barrel and a set of headers, stroke it out and beef up the tires a little I can challenge most standard muscle cars.

But my dream is to bring home a '68 Super Bee.

YES. Read the issue and I'm so stoked. They can skip the mustang, though, and move straight to the fastback. Somebody needs to make me the beneficiary of a Mach 1.

Your very first post on a Mazda board is in a V8 muscle thread?.....hmmm, o.k., welcome!

In college during spring break I bought a two door, 1968 Chrysler NYer with a 500 motor with a Holley Double Pumper. I put headers and new rubber on it and I could beat brand new IROCs with five people in my car!

Man I miss that car (it was stolen).

Pontiac Muscle Cars written by Mike Mueller published by Motorbooks International. I also think that Car and Driver back in the day reviewed it as well. It was called "Last of the Fast Cars."
