V6 for p5?!?!?!?

I use obd-2 mx-6 harness on my car with kl-ze, so this engine have no egr.

dash harness is not compatible , beacause the protege have a micro-computer in the cluster and is very different.

Using a obd-1 engine harness and match with existing dash harness is the easier way.

could be nice to us, and give us a a complete part list, and maybe in the fuiture let us know what wiring to the harness u are doing? its alot but we would be very very grateful. it looks to be as simple as puttin it into the 1g.. minus the wiring.

did u try the obdII pgt/mx6 harness/ecu? if so what happen, and do u tihnk it would be easier to maybe use a dash/fuse harness from a obdI (mx6/pg 4cyl) , and use a OBD1 pgt/mx6 6cyl engine harness?
The only advantage of using the OBDII harness/ecu is that the temp gauge in the cluster works correctly! Beside that, everything is worst!

alright, so the obd2 fs harness and the obd 1 kl harness, have the same color codes??

OK here is the deal. I have a Protege5 02 with an auto. I would need the KL-ZE and manual tranny from a MX-6 (around 96?). So is what I am hearing that you mix and match an OBD II and OBD I wiring harness so the dash works right, or are you using the MX-6 dash?

Normally I would not care about OBD II, but I need them to be able to plug up and say it's good for emissions.

Also since your already droping in the engine and redoing the harness is it that much harder to drop in a manual in as well?

I Figure find a MX-6 front clip

Also do you guys have a website or address? I live in the US, but damn if this is not a cool idea!

ADDITION: If the TwoFast Racing is the right address your only a 8 hr 42 min trip north! How much would a conversion like this cost? And since I would be coming a pretty far distance, would it be easier to have your guys get the parts and would that be included in the cost of the conversion?

not sure how they do emissions in ur area, but u should pass as long as u dont have a CEL with a OBD2 car.

That would mean you would be stuck using a 96 ford probe ECU or MX6 Ecu

A 98-02 626 V6 manual front clip would be the best in your case and it's about 3 to 4000 plus the KL-ZE, plus labor, so it would go up between 6 and 7k! A little bit pricey, but you'l have an OBDII KL-ZE, also you'll have bigger front discs from the 626(same size as the Mazdaspeed).(shocked)

You can e-mail me at info@twofast.ca
An auto to manual conversion would be a little more work, but while we're at it, why not!!:)

man a 98-02 manual v6 626 are hard to come by.....u should be able to use a mx3 - mx6- probe v6 tranny so the 626 wouldnt have to be manual right? probe-mx3-626-mx6 use the same housing, the mx6/probe/626 have a taller final gear. i fu all source out parts from a manual mx3/mx6/probe it would be alot cheaper... because those cars are easily found in the junkyard..

Hmmmm, in cali they stick you on a dyno and do emissions testing under load. They do one 15 mph pull and one 25 mph pull while hooked up to the computer and on a dyno.(bang)
I guess though if you get a good klze, run al your cats, and odbII hooked up you'd be ok.
The best way around it is to have a awd car because as far as I know the state doesn't have any awd dynos.

someone just needs to put a kit together, easy as that

its honestly not that hard.. it just sounds complicated. the parts needed can all be sourced form a junkyard, and the kl motors arent that expensive. hell i did my v6 swap pretty much for free in 4 hours.

As stated by this thread, the kl bolts up to the stock fs tranny. Is there another trans that would bolt up that is known to take more abuse than the stock Pro trans? I mean, a friggen 6-speed with tough ass gears would be damn worth the cost of a custom set of shafts....

You have to change the bellhousing on the FS tranny.

So you are saying that if I just show up in canada, in two weeks time with 4k-5k CAN, I could drive home with a fast as hell v-6 protege? Damn I need a better job.

more like 6k CAN, just to be sure to have everything.

plus tip

But seriously....WOW!

I know I've read this thread before, but I don't remember anyone having DONE it!

Now for that AWD swap....
