US Diesel's big splash introduction

Surely he*s being sarcastic considering Mazda didn*t even sale 150k CX-5 total in the US.

It*s not happening,I wouldn*t buy one if it doubled the MPG I get now,and like I*ve always said, they*ll find out the hard way as well. It*s gotta make it here first. Still waiting. Imagine that...lol

Wait wth wouldn't you buy one if it doubled your mpg and (almost) torque baby!

CARB testing can be really rough these days, especially on the diesels. Can*t blame em...

(iagree) I don't blame Mazda.

Should also be noted that when 2.5T CX-5 arrives, will have even worse fuel economy figures that 2.5 NA & 2.2D.

Food for thought.....

Simply put, because it*s a diesel. I*ve been through this on here before. Still not here like I stated. I do believe it will eventually get here, but it will be a dud...I know,I know you want one,go for it!

Funny thing is its on FE.gov as a 2018? That's weird, "because its a diesel"- also weird..that being said hugely disappointed with 30 for the awd diesel on the highway although I'd bet pretty big that it wouldn't have a hard time achieving it real world. I'm not saying I don't still want it but I was thinking 35 hwy was a slam dunk all day and night long.
The tight spreads city/highway still has me skeptical of this even though I'm seeing it I don't necessarily believe it- just doesn't make sense..27 city but only 3 better hwy..like no diesel I've ever seen or heard of.

Depends on if they have "muzzled" power/torque figures/delivery hence the poor F/E figures

Call it what ya wanna, only people being weird here is Mazda...

Pull the plug already.

^Hey its still gonna haul better ass while laying down better numbers- my guess is real world spreads will come in substantially wider- why is that a recipe for failure?
I'll call it what it exactly what it is- still better than any hybrid in the class for power and FE and I'll say its arrival is finally eminent based on actual EPA ratings-poo poo your 'because its a diesel' bs somewhere else its finally f**king happening so put that in your respective pipes and smoke that s***. Ima smoke it up through Chappaqua while giving Crooked Hill the bird.

One would hope so but there are no output figures yet.

Considering our fuel economy figures I posted above are based on 140KW (188HP) / 450NM (332FTLBS), your actual outputs might be less.

Lol,I ain*t smoking that nasty ass Schwag...

Why does everyone want to blow out my candle tonight..fine EPA FE ratings are sub-par (they seem wrong to me via ultra tight city/hwy spread) but even if they're not to me its still a yuge win BECAUSE SHE'S FINALLY COMIN...I can almost hear my Pat LaFrieda steak sizzlin @600F right now. So I guess what I'm saying is s**** on like Donkey Kong(breakn)

Not blowing out your candle. Just saying be a bit cautious since F/E figures are not where they should actually be. So the rest of the package might not be as good.

Then again if performance is fine then you can ignore F/E figures

^Dude the upside to these sketchy FE figures (if correct, in my mind) says they definitely didn't neuter it and it will have a substantial if not huge edge on both sides of the coin- that, to me is #winning. Hwy FE number is either wrong or real world will smash it regardless I'm betting.

Hey,I get your excitement, and glad it*s on like a paid power bill for you...

I wanted to feel the same way about a 2.5T,but they waited too long for me to care anymore. Well, not really, but I just can*t buy a new one...

We shall see :)

Seems we shall..that is the great news..alas- looks like the 'ol 5ers getting a nice optional engine upgrade- its not for everyone but everyone should check it out and consider the benefits it will offer.

Guys mpg is low as this is a performance trim. They have been putting Yokohama Geolanders (which is a legit performance branded tires on their cars 4 years before they will put any performance engine).
Its going to be 250hp and 362 lbft of torquee (two 'e' since more Torquee!).

Its going to be available in Signature, Autograph and Drake trims. Please dont ask pricing - if you have to ask its out of bujjet.

Pretty disappointing numbers, and if accurate they won't sell any of them when you factor in the additional cost and having to use DEF.
Agreed indeed. Also remember there's at least $2,000 premium for the diesel option too. How is it possible a diesel CX-5 is having the same highway mpg comparing to its gas engine counterpart? It turned out the US diesel's big splash introduction on CX-5 after more than a year of waiting is the EPA fuel economy estimates!

Real world I'd be shocked if its not in the 10-20% range, speaking of range..yeah its an upgrade, so one should expect to pay more. May not be worth it for many but to me more performance plus more efficiency and range(again real world tests pending) is intriguing and still a big deal in Mazdas best selling vehicle they obviously believe in it too.
