That's exactly how i trimmed mines. At first it fit ok,but after 2 weeks on, the paint started to crack at the corner. So i trimmed, and repaint. Now fits nices. My paint shop was very surprise at the quality, and fitment of this DG Lip,and FG Grill. cause as with ANY aftermarket body kits, minor ajustment is a must. and this lip,the ajustment was VERY Minimum. and their price is unbeatable!! Thanks Amie~!!!!!!!!!

What if u painted it and you did not trim yet, and u just found this post can u still trim it painted.. and what tools are u using

I really wish this thread would have came up, a year ago, when I got my carbon fiber lip. Eh...oh well, I'm satisfied enough with my minor gaps.

if any of you have bondo'ed the lip to the bumper, have you had any cracking? I love the way YP5's bumper looked molded, but I'm worried that the high level of positional stress there will cause it to crack, as it often does.

jdm mp5 just take you lip off and sand that area you may be able to achieve a much better fit....<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

For the rest of you:

I wish you guys would bring it to my attention when so many of you are having problems.... It's very frustrating when I had to find this thread on my own after it was already 3 pages long (and I was only doing a search of urethane front lip to find pictures) I think there were only one or two of you that actually contacted me to let me know you were having problems, that's not enough to red flag a huge problem as this was. I understand that a thread like this is a good way to find out who else is having problems but not once while this thread was posted did anyone post "HAS ANYONE CONTACTED DG ABOUT THE PROBLEM" Just for future information that would be the best way to handle a situation such as this..... As Ive stated before, so we can take care of the problem. Not read about it.. Thanks guys, this issue has been resolved with a little trimming of the part (we will trim the parts we have in stock)......

well said amie...

i just bought a used lip from matthew and saw some growing concern on the dg lip and simply contacted amie before i even received mine... she was extremely helpful and directed me to this thread showing how to fix this issue. mind you that i did not buy this direct from dg but bought a used one yet they have showed me great support in backing up their own product!!!

all it takes is contacting them and 2 minute later, issue is resolved... shave it here and there... intall... and BAM!!! NICE PROTEGE DUDE!!! problem solved... correction... what problem?

Since the AutoEXE replica lips seem to have problems with fitment, you should consider the Carbon Creations CF lip. It just attaches to the bottom of the bumper so that you retain the good look of that & just add the lip to the bottom (the way that lips for most other cars work). Steph told me that they are $335 shipped anywhere in the US, but if there is enough interest, they can sell them for less. If you don't like the CF look, you could always paint it too, but I think it looks better than the DGM CF lip now that I saw one installed. All of the info is in these 2 links:

Thanks Amie, if one day, I look at it, and it annoys me(hasn't lately) I will give it a go. But I'm a bit afraid to try to take it off, because putting it on was a really (REALLY!) tight fit. I was thinking it would never come off after that...

nah i like the DG lip better its a smoother transition from the CF to the bumper area. other ways it looks just slapped on
If you look, that's how most lips are on other cars. I guess I like it because I just took my MSP lip off & I don't want to put something back on there right away...I like being able to see my bumper now. :D

those are some great explainations of where to trim down and stick down the lip, thanks amie, even though i don't have a urethan lip i do have the CF lip, one the the very first ones too, and there are just some slight slight issues with fitment but nothing that is making me have negative comments on their products.

what i mean is you guys should know that these are aftermarket handmade products (i'm assuming) and there is bound to be some slight error, its not like casting metal in a factory where tollerances for error are real low. as long as there are no major alignment problems its all good with me, don't expect aftermarket parts to be like stock parts, thats just my take.
