Upgrading my MP3 Exhaust

Some exhaust, if not all, claim in the range of 5-15 WHP for their exhaust systems, now since the MP3 has kinda already an aftermarket exhaust, would going to a Greddy or a Magnaflow for example be worth any WHP at all?

Obviously the biggest gain is a combo of intake, header, exhaust, to completely open up the flow.

As far as i'm concerned the racing beat muffler is fine. Just upgrade the rest of the piping from the cat back to the muffler. Or get rid of the cat and get some real gains!

I'm looking at getting the Racing Mazda Header that removes both cats, its got the midpipe, then would that do what you suggest?

I don't care too much about the Cats, i can always add them back later

If the midpipe goes all the way back to the muffler, then yes. Unless you're looking for a different sounding exhaust note then I don't see any reason in changing the muffler. The Racing Beat is already a 'performance' exhaust.

Of course I'm far from an expert, hopefully more knowledgable people will chime in.

Looks like it should work. And the car's going to sound different anyway because of the header. Louder.

Yeah you an keep the muffler and change the rest. Thats what I did. The turbo sounds nice and quite

Yeah, I figured it wasn't worth the MP3ers to replace the full exhaust.

i did the opposite, got a hydrobent midpipe 2.5" from the second cat back and a magnaflow muffler, sounds pretty damn good (however my neighbors complain when i come home at 2 am)
