Upgrade everything or get a new car?

Here is the delima...I just updated my cart thru Corksport and it totals $1234 + 128.06 Shipping = $1362.06. This would give me what little extra power I can squeeze out of the 2 and better handling. Will this be a $1362.06 investment or am I just throwing money at this car? Here is the hard part... Do I just trade for a new Speed3? Please help me. I wish this would have been $1000 or lower delivered. I would have hit the checkout button and been waiting at the door for UPS.

Here is a list of the cart:
Intake with Air Duct
Exhaust with racepipe
H&R Springs
Rear Torsion Bar
Front Strut Bar

Definitely worth it! Especially seeing as the next body style speed3 is around the corner. This car with those upgrades equals (slingshot).

It will definitely help out and transform the car... but a Speed 3 is a Speed 3..

If you are shooting for power, get the speed 3. A 2 will not give you the save performance from the engine without some serious money. If you want a car which will out handle the speed 3 keep the 2.

I'd get the front swaybar instead of the front strut bar...should not only make a larger impact on handling but you'll get the "combo" discount. That being said, while the 2 may be as fun or possibly more fun than the speed3, acceleration will still not be remotely comparable.

Exactly what Eyeballs said. What is more important to you, handling or acceleration? That will give you your answer right there. To me, handling always outweighs acceleration in my ultimate decision making. The speed3 will smoke the 2 in a straight line, but the 2 isn't that slow if you work it. I do want a good power balance, but I personally don't need a ton of power I can basically never use in town, so the 2 is great for me.

in the long run, the speed 3 will be more expensive. depends on your budget goal/ performance goal. i think the 2 is unique, and fun to toss around, and park like a boss where nobody else fits. in the speed, its all torque and everybody will want to race you. i miss my civic si, but i enjoyed my Fit even more than my si for the few months i had it before it was totalled.. the mazda2, for me, is fun to drive, cheap to mod, and cheap to drive. i test drove a speed 3 and yes it was awesome, but the 2 still won out in the end due to MY goals.. cheap/ fun to drive. I do wish i had more power though, but still, my wallet and my 2 get along great. also, the new models are coming out so i'd wait.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I've decided to keep the 2 because in order to get the speed3/ST/whatever, its going to double my gas bill, insurance, and debt. Plus, like everyone says, the 2 handles like a dream and is more fun than most any other normal car. Another thing that helps satisfy my lead foot is my $200 rx7 and my torquey little truck. Maybe sometime in the future you could find a cheap, sorta-quick car to goof around in, or turbo the 2 (cabpatch)
