Upgrade a Speed3 to Heated Mirrors

Nope. I sent the glass back when I purchased the full kit. The problem is not finding out where to hook it up, but the actual stringing the wires through the hinge in the mirror, and then finding the pins to put in the connector. If you are paying mechanic's rates, you will probably be better off buying the full mirrors 'cause it will either take significant time, or end up cobbled together. My $.02.

Family biz so the rates will be $0. (alright)

Do you know if this is the same for Mazda 3s???

They're the same on both the MS3 and the regular Mz3, just different paint codes depending on your color. There's a great walkthrough on adding the heated mirrors with just the glass portion and how to run the wiring on mazda 3 forums by billm (I think he's a member here too). It's a little more involved than the full mirror replacement, but it will only cost you about $85 instead of $200.

I know onlinemazdaparts is a little difficult to work your way around, but Jason's also really good about ordering stuff over the phone, or via e-mail. I actually ordered a new rear wiper while I was still in Guatemala via e-mail. It was waiting for me when I got home.

It's kind of odd that he sent you black mirrors. I brought this mod idea to him a year or so ago (maybe more now) and the prices he was giving then were for factory color-matched mirrors so there wouldn't be the need to switch the covers. He actually had a set of lava orange ones in (those were the sample ones he ordered initially), but I just didn't have the cash for them. :( My next mod is either going to be these or window tint..... haven't decided which yet.

well, this was an amazingly simple swap. I think it took maybe 30min tops.

The only places I would elaborate are on the sail panel and the shell swap:

The sail panel has a pop-connector centered just above the tweeter. In the 3rd picture, you can see the 2 hinge-points that hold the bottom in. Pop it off from the top as suggested, and the rest kind of hinges off...

The shells actually have 3 pressure-clips. The third is in the bottom/outer corner. Start with it first (you can use your finger to dislodge it), then work your way to the top/innermost clip. I didn't have to use much effort.... holding the lower corner out a touch while turning a key in the space between the clip & housing was enough.
I think there's more chance of snapping the hinge clips on the bottom if you aren't careful reinstalling.

Decidedly good timing on the arrival of these parts....the white stuff made a cameo appearance today >.<

Can anyone confirm the fact that, or have also heard that the canadian model has come with heated mirriors already installed?

Yes they are factory installed and work with the rear defrost. I know 150% on the GT models...not sure about the reg 3's however.

these things should NEVER be driven in snow! These mirrors shouldnt be an option :(

I did plenty of snow driving in mine already and will possibly do more this weekend when I go upstate. Of course, the stock wheels are off and I got my 16's with snows on.

i just ordered the $280 color matched kit from onlinemazda - jason was helpful
shipping was 6.50 but he said he won't have them in stock until after xmas...

stupid "GT" package and no heated mirrors =\

Need mirror drive

I upgraded mine the hard way last week (new wiring and all) & broke a ball putting the glass back in. You know you can help me: You bought the whole assembly (you're smarter than me-- much easier install) and now the old mirrors are sitting around doing nothing. Sell one to me?

I need the driver's side motor assy. Local to Baltimore? I'll pick it up. I have an '08-- probably can do with any year parts...

Thanks

Martin

I have a set in my shed. PM me if you want some parts.

I think I found the part numbers for the heated mirror assemblies. Can anyone confirm?

Left = BP8M-69-180K-08
Right = BP8M-69-120K-08

Trademotion shows there kit as BP8M-Kit. And that is for both mirrors. I would assume that you're on the right track.

I wish I stumbled on this thread months ago. This is an absolute must.
