UnZipHer Mazda2 Build Thread

thats awesome! my mom works at a flooring company so i should be able to get some good remnant pieces. i'm assuming you used a floor under the hardwoods... did you use the pad like you would in a house, or just snap the pieces in on top of your trunk floor?

the boards are directly on the sound proofing in the hatch. nothing under them at all, they are kept in place using the pressure from the side plastics. During everyday driving i normally have a heavier carpet i had cut to match over it so the road noise is not too bad.

new update!!

Project Kics R40 Neo Chrome locking lug nuts arrived!!

Lol! I'll be adding roughly 30lbs in the trunk. I should save that weight back with the air suspension. I'm also not to concerned with adding a little weight! Daily low n slow build! Miata for autox and p5 for whatever we need it for haha

I'm sorry for seeming negative. However I guess I just don't understand why you would pay money to make a new car worse than stock. Air ride isn't really world renown for being a performance improver. I know you will have fun with it, I guess there is more to modification than what I'm focused on.

different strokes for different folks! not everyone will like my build, and if one opinion bothers me i shouldn't have a build thread let alone build a unique car. air suspension is a better option for me because i don't want to replace oil pans and front lips regularly.

Could you have them put on the car?

I honestly not really thrilled by these wheels (sorry, no offence), but I think maybe I don't get something and maybe they look great against your red M2...

None taken. I love them!

I could have put them on the car but I dont want to yet.

1. 4x4oem suspension with aftermarket wheels looks stupid
2. These wheels are spring/summer wheels
3. The weather is still horrible here in Portland so I'll be waiting for it to change Before rolling on these daily

So, I was droolin over your wheels some more, then I saw the pics with the tires on and ugh -- should not have gone with the stretch.

I have to... And I want to! 16x8 +30 are the specs of these wheels... And in dropping it on air! I'm going low, I need some stretch!

I build outside the box... Not your every day run of the mill looks like everybody else's car, build. :-)

Hate it or love it I'm goin for it! :-)

Wheels look goooood with the tires mounted. Can't wait to see them on, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the geometry of those wheels is going to interact with the curves of the Mazda - your car is going to have a really unique vibe and stance without a doubt.

I agree with the mentality but I disagree with the criticism... I am not a show car person myself, I have always though...if it doesnt make you faster, why spend money on it?!

But, I also have an appreciation of the work that goes into a well put together car, even if it not my cup of tea... and I know quality when I see it:
Looking forward to how this project comes together! (thumb)

Thanks fellas! Like I said earlier, different strokes for different folks! I would have bought the ms3 if I wanted to go fast :-) I bought the 2 with the idea of building a low n slow daily... I have a 125cc kart, and miata that I get my track time with so I'm not worried about having a 300whp daily that is on the brink of blowing up!

This is part of our community! We all have different taste and style making each of our builds unique. I wouldn't have it any other way... Haters are part of every car build, I just let it motivate me :-)
