Unsold 2008 Speed3, what's a fair price?

I guarantee a dealer will NEVER let a car off the lot if its under their bottom line. so you're absolutely right there.. but with the economy being what it is now, their margins are being cut down to minimums to try to raise volumes... which is good for those who can still make payments..

Is there a real difference between the '08 and '09 MS3? Be it features or reliability/problems? Be curious since a dealer has an extra '08 and if I can get it cheaper and there's no real difference between the '08 and '09, get the '08, right? But let me know if there is anything significantly (or at all) different. Thanks.

Okay, if I were to go for a used 2008, what's a fair price?

This one

It's a GT w/16k. They want $19995. Should I get them down to $19000? Or could I push it even lower?

Wow.... I am more amazed by your 22K OTD deal than anything I have read so far on this post. Let me get this straight... Orlando sales tax is 6.5%, so after we subtract the destination charge, tax and title, you have:

22K - $595 (estimated destination charge) / 1.065 = $20,098. So you got a Sport (I am assuming with the three typical options of Floor mats, Wheel locks, and auto dimming mirror) that has an invoice of $22,278 for almost $2000 less than invoice? Wow... your dealer must have been out of his / her mind. Almost too good to be true....
Floor mats, no wheel locks or auto ,mirror. But one of the techs at mazda gave me a sett.

Bought it from daytona beach mazda. There dealership is closed and has now moved onto fords dealership next door...ford bought them..

So with that in mind, I came to realize that was the reason for why I got such a sweet deal.. I traded in my explorer which had a lot of probs. Got to the point to where I wouldn't drive it anymore b,c the engine had the metallic hum kinda sound coming from it and the engine vibrated pretty badily.

Told the sales manager the car didn't run well, wasn't driving it any more either. He assked me if I could drive the car long enough to drive it onto the lot and whether it had a v6 or v8. Told him I could tow it from orlando and have it dropped off right down the street from the dealership and would drive it onto the lot and that it had a v6...he told me he would give me $3k for my suv as a trade in so I jumped all over.

I was actually there with my cousion who was shopping for the ms3, I had never heard anything about this car until then. The sales manager kept saying to my cousin "whatever I have to do, I'm going to sell you a car today" but in fact iit wwas me who couldn't refuse the deal after I drove the car along with what he offered

Why offer 20K on an 2008? 240Ka got a 2009 for about 20K. Offer less... It would seem they took a deal like that before, why not again? Especially on a 2008. If they were hard pressed to get rid of an 2009 (Apparently they were...), they must be absolutely dying to get rid of an 2008.
Who is "they"? 240Ka got 20K on a 2009 in Florida. The Op is in Illinois. You're telling me he should demand less because a dealership 1000 miles away sold a car for less? The sales markets in those two areas are not going to be the same.

yeah but my dealership was closing/getting bought out so there is reason that i found out later on why i got a money deal

No, I read it, and even reading it again I can't tell if the guy you are talking to is going to the same dealer as 240Ka or the Op. It's not exactly clear who he is talking to, so, uh...
i live in orlando, got my car from daytona beach mazda who was later acquired by gary yeomans ford

Yea man, I get all that. Not confused about the deal you got at all.

Your deal just doesn't give the Op a good place to work from, is all. It's unrealistically low, even in a market that apparently can't move Mazdaspeed3s. And then a side tangent of realistic pricing started up based around what you managed to get.

Your deal makes me angry, by the way. In the "jealous" kind of way.

Exactly... I wish I could have got a deal that good, but at that time the MS3s were new and dealers weren't going much below MSRP. Seriously, I am happy for you... I got the best deal I could at the time.
