UNICHIP / MSP praise.......

Well first off, I pray that my car doens't fail me after giving it some praise. Second, this car has really made me a beleiver. I at first doubted it's potential, but the more I drive it, ( 55K miles in a year and an half ), the more I love it. This car has been put through the ringer, and it still feels good. I was thinking about getting rid of it due to a divorce but I changed my mind at the last minute. Well here goes...

I for one, am starting to beleive that the UNICHIP was worth the $800 that I spent on it. I've had mine since about Dec 04 and for the last 5 months, I run on MAP B at all times. I will only run a different map, if I'm worried about fuel economy.

But needless to say, the car drives wonderful when the chip is working it's magic. Meaning the stock IC isn't severly heat soaked..or the air is cool outside..My mod's only include: Chip / catless Apex DP / and AEM intake. That's it.

I ran a lightly modded, ( well that's what he said ) EVO from about a 25 roll and he put 1 car on me and couldn't advance any further. Then again from about a 50 roll and this time he barely put a car on me. My list of kills inlcude a few modded WRX's , a modded VW R32 and a older MR2.

I will tell anyone, the chip is worth the price. I beats the shyt out of my car, and I haven't had one single problem yet. How long will the motor hold, I don't know, but until then, I'll boost with the UNICHIP and be happy. Future plans include:

1.Built block
2. GHL turboback
3. Defi guages---yeah, I'm an idiot, I don't even have these yet, but I do
have the pod.
4. Disco Potatoe
5. Tein coilovers
6. FMIC --not sure which one yet
7. Either AEM or some other Eng Mang.

I'll be picking up about $58k when I get out the ARMY in March, so I know this list will make it to completion.

These are in no particular order, but the FMIC and Turboback are probably first, or the block if it goes. Guages will be coming very soon. But anyway, thanks for reading, I don't post much, but I thought I could give some credit where I think it's due..

Enjoy and drive safe..

Nice. I'm thinking about picking up a unichip myself. Have you thought about just keeping it and getting it retuned once you do all of your mods?

I would like to get one, I just take forever to research everything, this helps, good review.

(BrianMCD) Yeah, I thought about it, but I'm not 100% sure yet. If the engine holds up, I may just take a trip to one of the shop's that frequent the forums (probably MAM ), and have them do the block, manifold, turbo upgrade, tuning and so on. I'll def. keep you guys posted.

Yeah, the car has been really good to me. And I won't lie, I do drive this puppy hard.

hmm so lets say the unichip peaks at 13-14psi on our stock turbo, is it safe to assume that it will still peak at the same psi w/ a disco potato? would that mean more power?

great honest review, much appreciated!

yes its controlling the boost via psi, so on any turbo 14psi is 14 psi but you will be flowing more air, thus morre power and the maps will be wrong.

so with a dp and intake only you've been running 10-12 psi? how long have u been doing this for?

I ran 10psi with just a dp and intake for about 25,000 miles without a single problem, and beat the crap out of it too.

Of course I didn't do anything stupid like boost for more than a second or two in 5th gear, and never put too much load on the engine in low rpm's.

jersy u no longer have an msp????

also--- sorry for the noobish question::: but wuts a big load on low rpms... i really never do that neway... cuz WOTting it jus causes hesitation... so i always ease it... but is launching considered big load on low rpms?

Good to hear! It's good to read this from other users here!

Two more weeks on that $800 Unichip sale by the way.

big load would be like in 3rd gear at 2k rpms u wot it to redline. it bogs the engine down and leans it out that low. its not good. 1st and 2nd u can pretty much gas it whenever thats why launching is ok (load wise lol). but when u shift out of 2nd at redline or whatever u drop it into the next gear at higher rpm so ur not loadin it down.
