Unichip Just Installed

Hey guys, i just installed my unichip yesterday. I am extremely please about what the chip has done for the car. I have noticed a few things...

This is for those who own or have had the unichip,

Map A, During startup... the car almost stalls then goes back to normal idle, and after that everything seems ok.... And when you let off of the gas on map A it seems to decelerate very slowly, i am guessing that has to do with the "aggressive timing" of that setting.

The other thing i have noticed is that at WOT the car doesnt really seem to go that much faster, it almost seems that it holds the car back... I know a tune should fix this possibly bigger injectors. I found one place about an hour away from me that can tune the unichip they quoted me 385-485 for a dyno and tune.

I just want to know if anyone else has run into these things.

Thanks,

P.S. MODS on sig

I havn't noticed the startup problem you talked about. Seems to be fine for me. I have noticed the slow deacceleration though. Don't really have a problem with that though, doesn't bother me.

As far as it seems to be holding the car back? I noticed this in low boost but not really it high boost.

Are you using the provided ebc? And how much boost are you running just out of curiosity.

Hope you like the Unichip. I've had mine in for about a month maybe more and I love it. The difference is amazing. Especially when I'm cruisin around and then I pop it into high boost haha. Enjoy!

Make sure your switches are not mixed up.......for the past few months people have been getting Unichips with mixed up switches.

Your Boost and Timing maps should have LED lights with them, and the ECU should not have a light. When your on "high Boost" the LED on the same switch should light up.....and when your on "Advanced " timing the LED on the same switch should light up.....

Go here if u have any problems----> CitizenPro's Unichip Story .....lots of info on every page.

my car feels noticably faster with the unichip, even faster with advanced timing. Also the car would hit fuel cut when the ecu is reset but after the ecu learns the chip the boost cut stops. Kinda weird.

Hmm thats interesting... My unichip switches are like this, boost switch has a LED and the ECU switch has a LED... im guessing my timing map switch and my ECU switch are swapped. I actually had to send mine back with the harness because I kept getting CEL's. My OBDII scantool said that there was low input to my TB/Pedal sensor and my MAP sensor low voltage input. Once i took the chip out the car ran normal. I ran unichip for a week and the CEL came up 3 times then i took it out. When I didnt get CEL's the car ran like a beast.

Alright, then just cut the tape around the LED's and switches, and put them where there supposed to go. Pretty easy.....just follow my steps in that link i posted.

I occasionally get CEL's at random, but they all show that the car is running "Too Rich" or "Max'ing out MAF Voltage" from hitting fuel cut.

Alright i have been driving it around alot the past couple of days, and man i have to say with the fmic i have and my exhaust... the unichip was like the cherry on the top of the sundae this thing just takes off i love it!!! lol just the power it has... i mean i was goin down a long strecth of hwy today and i had it in 5th gear i gave it some gas just to get by a few cars looked down and i was doing like 110mph and i knew i was doin like 75 when i got on it lol it didnt take long at all just mad boost and power in all gears... i really like 4th gear now, but like most people have said... this car could use a 6th gear would really give it something else.

As far as the starting issue, i guess it just took some time for the ecu to learn but everything seems ok now i dont have any issues period. Can't wait to take it up to the track, and see what she runs. Last time up there i ran a 15.3 @ 95mph... needless to say i had a hard time getting it out of the whole... but i have been taking some notes, i watched a evo go down the track the other day and he really didnt launch it out of the whole... i think that is what you have to do with these cars, help it take off since its not gonna hook up on the track when you launch it im gonna have at least one run where i just ease into first then punch it and see what happens.

I think my switches are mixed up too cause my map switch has a led on it so im gonna have to look at it, when you switch maps the light doesnt go out so it may be just on the wrong switch thats not a problem though i just pulled them up into the glove box for now, until i decide where to mount them... my next project is fixing my exhaust problem and getting new gauges... infact i just ordered the AEM wideband from street unit... really freaking cheap!!! 279 shipped ... if you need one i suggest you hop on that!!!

You'll get fuel cut once you get to the higher psi levels. 14+.
MSPRedDragon, wanna race again with your boost switched on this time?
I pulled on a msp running 12-14 psi tonight.
