UNICHIP ENGINE MANAGEMENT - Answers from Jack at unichip.us

the msp doesnt have electronic boost control from the facotry..its regulated by the wastegate only......the unichip uses a solinoid (sp?) to regulate the boost just like the factory electronic boosted cars (wrx, gti, etc)
so installing this thing is still a simple plug and play between the factory harness and the ECU? No need for anything else, right?
Could the dealer find out about it?

yeh u plug it inline of the ecu and i would assume u need to install the solienod thing too...if the dealer was lookin for it..theyll fine it.....

i would assume fuel cut is deleted since they are upping the boost....
I wasn't sure if it was mechanical or controlled electronically by the ECU. I just hate getting fuel cut a 9psi when it's 70 out.

Can this compensate for the stumble for those folks with a BOV setup when venting to atmosphere?
read the entire thread, this has been answered atleast 3 times

and people quit guessing how everything is going to work or be hooked up, once its available im sure all that information will be made public along with all the features, settings and everything. just hold on until then

I was curious about the post below as it has not been answered (unless I missed it)...
If you already have a boost controller it doesnt matter. Since the Unichip controls boost it still has to use solenoid which ties into the wastegate. Reset you MBC or EBC and you can run higher than the 9psi if you wish.

Its all under the carpet. They'd have to actually know what they were doing, good luck having a dealer that does that.

DZnutz: I may have missed it... sorry if I did. I read the entire thread and after your post, I did a search on each page of this thread for BOV, blow, valve. Aside from people's sigs, search didn't turn up anything meaningful... there wasn't an answer to the question.

Could you point it out please? If it's answered at least three times, I'm a dummy and can't find it... sorry.
Even though I don't have an aftermarket bov in my msp, I was only curious in terms of understanting more of what this product can do.

sure, i personally am too lazy to go through every page and find it myself (dunno)

but yes youll be able to run an atmospheric BOV without stalling. these BOV's always create a slightly rich condition in between shifts, unfortunately in the msps case it already runs so rich that this extra bit of fuel causes the engine to sometimes stall. if you install the unichip the BOV will still cause this rich condition in between shifts but since the msps entire fuel curve will be leaned out the extra fuel will not be enough to make the engine stall or even stumble

hrmmm now i'm at a dilemma

I'm boosting 9psi as of now.... have injen cai, hard pipes, bov.

Next buy will be corksport exhaust.... guessing i should get the exhaust put in and THEN buy the ecu? Just so hard to decide seeing as how I'd prefer steady driving (no hesitation) before i'd prefer the added power.

Dilema, dilema, dilema

Thank you sir.

dyno

i just dynoed my car the other day for the first time after all mods
in 3rd gear dynoed at 219.7whp, 209tq mods are: Injen CAI, Turbohoses SMIC & hardpipes, 3" downpipe, 3" cat-back, ebc at 10.5psi, i don't have a scanner or i'd scan the dyno chart, 4th gear pulled 217.3whp & 208tq

Just curious as to why you posted in this particular thread. Do you have a Unichip that's also installed? If not, those are some pretty decent numbers. I have been trying to find out what kind of numbers someone would make if someone had mods similar to yours AND the unichip...

unichip

well i do not have unichip and i was looking to get it but i'm already at 11psi and the air fuel was decent but how much more can i get out of the injectors to keep things maintained, because it would be a waste to get unichip if the injectors can only put out so much and can not keep with the amount of air coming in because i was looking to hold boost at 14 on my hi setting
