UNICHIP ENGINE MANAGEMENT - Answers from Jack at unichip.us

call your local dyno's alot of them can tune unichips, i have several friends who can. we used them in subarus alot. anyone near turboxs can have them do it.
this chip was once called the program which was only for porches but they are used here in the states on wrx's and in australia they are very popular. most of the subaru tuners used tp remap the chip for free with the update or you can always get dyno time at a unichip tuner. the racers group which races 911's on speedvision was who used to sell these

If they dyno'd at 9psi instead of 6psi, then the gains of the mapping and computer control really arent that impressive.
I want to see gains from tuning a proper fuel curve and timing curve at STOCK boost.
Also, if you havent heard of unichip, then you really arent into the car scene very deeply. WRX owners love unichip because the wrx ecu hates seeing any mods, especially more boost.

Will being flashed affect this unit? Also, I imagine Corksport doesn't have access to other company's mods to tune the chip. So will this only be mapped for products that Corksport sells? I don't mind going all Corksport, but they need to hurry up with the intake and DP, as well as making a no-cutting installation FMIC.

"4th gear is closest to 1:1" Correct.

so that is the gear that dyno runs should be made in. Incorrect

You don't want to dyno for power numbers in a gear higher than 1.00. You have to pick the gear closest but UNDER 1.00. That's 3rd. 4th should be used for dyno tuning though. :)
If fourth is closest to 1:1 but third is under 1.00 then how is fourth closer to 1:1 than third? For some reason it does not make any sense to me.

4th is closer to 1:1 but is slighty more...i dunno the exact ratio.......like 1.3:1 or somehting...while 3rd is under but not as close to 1:1

I am interested in this.. I was reading on corksports website that the unichip has an electronic boost controller... so is this user adjustable? or is the boost only switched when you switch maps? It would be kind of a pain in the ass if you got a new mod or two and had to send the thing away to get reprogrammed...

Not really, its pretty convenient because as soon as you unplug it the PCM reverts back to normal, meaning you can still drive the car, its just wont be perfect until you get the Unichip back.

Alot of people are thinking this is to expensive and want to go with a stand-alone but if ANY of you have used a stand-alone on a daily driver you'll know what I am talking about, it ******* sucks.

This is THE best bet out there, from a reputable company that is willing to tune the Protege PCM. I think they need 100% of our support for this project.

Definitely. This is the closest thing to the VW/Audi 1.8T 'chips' we have. Actually it's even easier to install...just plug it in!

yeah it sounds good to me but I kinda want to be able to adjust boost and stuff myself... If I can find a unichip tuner around me somewhere then it would not be an issue.. I'll have to look into it. As for ease of use it sounds f'ing sweet.

Im sorry but that is not true.
If a standalone is not tuned properly then it will suck. We havent had ANY problems with drivability with any of the year , makes or models we install them on.
Not trying to be a dick but every system has its pros and cons.

You're correct they do, but I prefer not to buy a system from somebody that gets drunk and posts incoherently about their product.

Hey now, let's not ruin this perfectly good thread. This is potentially one of the best things to happen to the MSP.

WHOA there slick. Dont read too much into a jokingly good time we had AFTER hours with our crew. I didnt attack you so I dont know why you have to take that road. That is completely uncalled for.
I didnt know we had some kind of a squabble here. Anything else you would like to add about something you may know NOTHING about?

hey theres no point in the flamin' :). I like the looks of the chip, i still don't know what route to take. I wanna see they're answers to your questions to them
