Craighjr said:Maybe so, all I can say is in vta I love the sound and it is what I wanted. Small valve big valve, they both make me smile in vta. So as mentioned videos! 1-3 are all on reserc. You hear a few vents some fluttery ones, some woosh ones. 4-5 are vta and much louder. The camera didn't move and the windows were still up for the second set. One thing I forgot to do was to put no insert in on vta and to see if I loose the awesome hks noise? Theres always today at work (spin). one

And as always these are made on closed road in an industrial complex so no lectures about speeding.
You cant really here it in while its in recirc, is that cause your inside the car or it not very loud?Craighjr said:Maybe so, all I can say is in vta I love the sound and it is what I wanted. i get some backfires and and i noticed that if i shift under 2k i dont have to give it gas i jsut disengage shift and engage clutch without gas and then it doesnt stumble....i think the stumbling happens because vta the turbo stays spooled between shifts and giving it gas might make u shake a bit because the car thinks its gona go ZOOM ZOOM.Ms3Xeoc said:I am also running VTA with the HKS. I love it! Seems to be no problems.
It is loud enough in reserc. I am only using a digital still camera to make the movies so the mic is less than optimum. Also shooting alone with the camera on the console doesn't help pick up the sound. In any case I have devised an insert that will modify the HKS fin and add my own reserc nipple. It should be cheap and easily repeatable if anyone is interested. I will have to shave down the plastic but that should be easy enough. The shop told me 10 to 12 week lead time. My best friend works there so I don't know if that's a joke or not. So my temp solution is to run VTA. Hopefully I will not burn up my cats in the mean time. I'm also starting a new thread about downpipes as I have yet to be impressed by what's out.AWDRACER6 said:You cant really here it in while its in recirc, is that cause your inside the car or it not very loud?
I am a dealer trained tech so I was always aware of performance and emmisions concerns with customers. This is what I have been tought and could be totally wrong. (There are guys from turbo xs on here who claim no ill effects, but my argument is such...) The modern cat is very efficent and fuel injection is also effecient. The cars are optimized for minimal raw fuel going into the cat. When the cat sees too much fuel it will get too hot by burning that fuel causing decomposition, break down and then clogging. My wrx lost a coil wire and ran with a dead miss. In the 5 minutes of driving to safetly get the car off the road the manifold on cyl 3, uppipe (which has a cat), turbo turbine side, and first downpipe cat were all glowing red. When I put in a catless set up shortly after that my cats were both showing signs of decomposition and breakdown (at 30k mi). So imagine a shot of raw gas on every shift. I don't know how long it takes, but I need my cat every 2 years for emmisions and don't want to have to buy a new one to pass.clos561 said:how long does it take to burn ur cat up? ive been running mine vta for a week now....how can u tell if ur cats are ******* up
That s*** is loud! Thats tight! I didnt know it was that loud. How much of a difference is there when its recirc? U know?clos561 said:
i dont have cai and u cant hear it at all.....its so much louder in person....but yea with cai ppl have heard some bov soundAWDRACER6 said:That s*** is loud! Thats tight! I didnt know it was that loud. How much of a difference is there when its recirc? U know?
i cant adjust this oneshadow1 said:If the HKS BOV is fluttering you need to adjust the spring. The HKS SSQV is very sensitive to proper spring adjustment. Fluttering at high boost can be bad since it often means compressor surge.
