Undercarriage Washing

Hey guys. With everyone talking about hydrolocking your engine with using a CAI, what is the best way to clean the undercarriage of your car? Would there be any chance of doing damage by using this option on a car wash and if there is a chance of damage, what is a safe way to wash under the car? Thanks in advance. (uhm)

I always wash my undercarrage, even in the summer. Just turn to car of so you're not actually sucking up the water and you'll be fine.

Unless you clean the undercarriage by submerging the car in several inches of water with the engine running, it won't hydrolock. I know the whole hydrolock thing is scary but by definition it requires water deep enough to put at least a portion of the filter underwater. After driving with a CAI for awhile you stop worrying about splashes and water on the road that's only an inch or so deep, etc. If you're the least bit worried about splashes from washing the car, you can get a pre-filter that will keep the filter dry in most situations.

Think of it like a straw, only when the whole entire straw is submerged it will suck up water. When you dip the straw partially into the water it will have a hard time doing so. Unless your CAI is submerged I think it'll be fine.

Thanks for responding guys. I was hoping that there wasn't too much to worry about. I appreciate the fast replies! (cabpatch)
