pretty easy install. throttle response seems improved but the biggest difference is the sound. i had the k&n typhoon cai on my p5 and it didnt sound nearly as nice as this one. its much more aggressive than stock, especially when you hit about 1/2 throttle. its a nice clean roar. ok, maybe not a roar.....(glare)

I'm curious--how much did you pay for it?
BTW, everyone seems to agree, the Simotas all sound really good.

i was so surprised at the noise at first... way more then i expected, but it is a nice growl type noise not ricey... got used to it, and as i said in the header thread my intake is louder then any exhuast noise.

Yes the simota is really loud for an intake and really makes our car sound like a beast even with a full exhaust you still hear the roar of the intake LOVE IT..

I dont know bout yall but mine off of umnitza only put me back 195 shipping and all and i think that the price is up to 199 now.

revised

i went out for a drive and holy crap is the intake loud. anyone else noticed it makes a slight 'whistle sound' at various rpm's? its sounds insane. i love it.

i bought it in december. i think i paid about $150 or something. its been a few months so im not quite sure.

yeah the whistle is kinda cool, at first i was like holy s*** wtf did i do... then realized it was the intake at low rpms....

$150 is a good price---Simota (and Umnitza--rebadged Simota--also) put their foot down about the price wars.
$195 is too much now but they were that high a while ago.
I've got the CF Simota in stock for $165. If it's not the cheapest it's damn close.

yeah it was pretty crazy for a while... i got in on the very first group buy umnitza had. can't remember the price but i want to say it was 140 shipped or something like that. great deal in my mind.

yeah, i found my receipt. it was $149.99. i got the v3 or whatever it is. the only problem is that the bolts they supplied me with were too short so i had to go to the hardware store and buy new bolts (and nuts). it only cost me about $1.50 but it i was pissed i had to go out to get longer ones.

after I read the "NA Stage 2" thread I am thinking that with the K2 CAI there is the most gains, any dynos, or a comparison beween the K2 and the Simota? I would really like to get the most gains of an intake, but if the gains are the same a CF intake looks and sounds much more sexier.

the gains with this intake vs. the fugita are probably minimal as with most intakes yes the fugita is a CAI so it sits lower and supposedly has a more direct path to cold air, but the simota cf sri has a cf heat sheild to supposedly keep hot engine ambient air away from the intake filter. yes the tubing is smaller diameter but there is also only about 4-6" vs 30" or so on the cai does any of it matter...?? who really knows b/c there really isn't a diffinitive way to test any type of intake on a dyno becuase the car is stationary and last time i checked there were no dynos in wind tunnels. so as far as what intake to buy... buy what you want for the reasons you want to.... its too hard to compare the gains unlike an exhuast set up that is cut and dry.

Simota also makes a nice CAI for the 3. I dunno how much the Fujita is but you can't beat the price on the Simota. Everyone is really happy with the CAIs I've sold them so far.

lol...thought i was the only one who heard the whistle :)

I just installed the Simota CAI on a members car Monday night. Not a bad system. I do like the fact the filter sits directly behind the inner fender liner vents. I prefer the SRI, for the fact it fills the engine bay, CAI's seem to leave allot of dead space, like something is missing. and as far as looks, the SRI wins. Now if the CAI produced better gains, i'd buy one in a heartbeat :)

Nevermind, found a intake heat wrap i'll probably install once i get an intake (flame)

i read on a thread that the SRI wasnt creating gain at all, some actually said they had lost acceleration/hps. Not sure if it was here or over at the mz3forums. Not trying to bash anything, jsut wondering if this is true.

I was thinking between the sri, f2 (saw the dyno thread but not sure if they have it for my atx car) and the f5 fujita. not sure now.
