Ultimate Racing's Preview

oo nice find, thanks.. wonder how long that will take anyone can say "products being developed" i want a date.. :)

Cant it hold around 250whp?
if so you could probably get away with an upgraded turbo...but the internals will be taking a beating not to mention the tranny...

its not how much hp it will hold, its how much boost will it hold.

if your shopping around then i suggest that you have a look at the 03 volkswagen GTI 1.8T

i did and after driving the msp i can honestly say that the gti is quicker... better overall quality as well from what i saw

Thanks for the input on the VW but personally the only VW that I find even mildly appealing is the new 260hp Passat. The rest are either too ugly or too small for my perference. GTi is zippy, true, but not my style.

The main reason I like the Mazdaspeed Protege is the MSRP and the gas milage, plus it's dead sexy. $20k for an already turbod car that gets 24/30 city/highway sounds great to me. That's probably why I like the RSX is the MSRP and it's can't be befat 27/31 gas milage.

Ultimate Racing's turbo for the RSX looks cool too but expensive. I'm not quite sure how the Mazdaspeed can be turboed and only putting out 170hp and 160ft as listed? Seems a little low no?

One must realize, the 2.0 MAZDASPEED engine (developing 130hp), that is standard in the Protege ES and Protege 5, is the exact same engine in the MAZDASPEED. So; the 'little' T-25 Garrett Turbo adds an additional "40" horsepower. That's pretty sweet in my opinion. But; this is my first turbocharged car, and I am a little more easliy amused than some members here. (thumb)

Aren't VW's now manufactured in Mexico?

Yes, They are now as Mexican as fried rice.
Well many of them anyway.
Hey the original Beetles ended up being manufactured in Old Mekeeco as well.

same "unit" different programming internally.

as for Ultimate Racing......everyone email them...they are more focused on the s2000 and RSX projects (understandably). If they get more interest in the the Protege platform, they will move it along more quickly.

I know these guys personally, and they are $hit! They truely know their stuff....plus they are Canadian!

it is programed to use larger injectors
whoo hoo (pow)
and it MIGHT have a boost cut, but nobody really knows for sure

someone needs to put their ass on the line and find out first hand... someone with balls, someone who can control a car going high speed without power steering and pump assisted braking... someone that's not me.
