It was a hoax. The people that made it admitted to it. It was on SciFi.com not too long ago.
Link ? definitely need closure on this one, got me all interested

this is what it looked like to me

the ones in patrick's link look like their flapping their wings lol

don't know many planes that can do that (uhm)

yea I think they're actually a lot closer to the camera than it looks like, making them appear to be 40' birds :D

Hmmmm supposedly, it's being claimed that it was an ad created for the Sci Fi channel , but was never really aired because of 9/11 but I have yet to find anything concrete on that. Still Looking, Folks... hopefully we'll have an answer soon

what I wanna know is if it's really CGI , then how did they Blend it seamlessly in full motion, and what they used to create the contrail... cuz that's some badass special effects if that is indeed what it is.

i havn't gotten home to watch this but yes i have seen the video your referring to as done by scifi channel. it was pretty freaky when i saw it too.

after watching that video a few more times. It definetly isn't a F22A..It looked more like a F14 with its wings swept back (which would make more sense for a response, since it would come from a carrier) With the wings swept back, it could carry those types of speed, but I don't know about a turn like that when your considering the plane would be travelling in excess of 700mph for it's wings to move into the swept back position. (out of its 1500mph max) The other option is that it would be an F15, which is capable of making such a high speed turn..However I still find it very skeptical that any U.S plane would be moving inbound on the island of manhattan below 1000ft and moving in excess of mach 1 just to get an angle on a UFO. The UFO, isn't a plane..and what comes by the helicopter and high speed, ISN'T whats hovering..Definetly more than one object in the sky there. Honestly, the video looks like a collaboration of several videos..

There are a lot of motives behind this as well..There are two types of conspiracy video creators. The guys in lawn chairs out looking for new prototype aircraft and weaponary (usually the writers from JANES haha) and "there are aliens in area 51" bulls*** type..Basically given the timing of the release of this video it would be impossible for the government to say its an experimental aircraft..because afterall, why would they be flying experimental aircraft over lower manhattan where its under 1000ft and literally hovering over the most densely populated area in the country..Moreover, if it was experimental aircraft, why did they have first response aircraft inbound on it..It's hard to cover up conspiracies and bulls*** when its in plain view of an entire island, especially next to something as massive as the WTC. Moreover, the reason I am as skeptical as I am, Is due to the extreme closeup of the plane coming by the helicopter and it easily breaking into mach 1 at a low altitude, there is no way in hell that helicopter would of stayed airborne. The wash would of put it sideways and would require and extreme recovery procedure..Where are all the witnesses? When I lived on park row just a couple blocks from the WTC..I think would of heard an F15 or F14 breaking into sound barrier coming over my head...

The Air Force has Planes that can cover about 100 meters of Lateral movement in the blink of an eye, Come to a complete stop, stay airborne, then move laterally again into a 90 degree climb ? .... What is it called ? any tech links would be appreciated
dunno if anyone responded to ur post, but itz the harrier jet, there is also a prop plane that can do it, but thats mainly for air rescue, not really a fighter plane

Unfortunately, it's not a harrier..I don't know how familar you are with jump jets, but they couldn't pull a move like that..No way in hell. You'd also realize they they are the loudest aircraft in the U.S aresenal..It would of been far more noticeable..I'll say this again.."something" is hovering in the sky, yes..But what came by the helicopter was a first response fighter plane..

Did you miss the part about this being an exposed hoax?

i just read the rest of the thread and saw the videos... no way a harrier could do that...

as for breaking sound barriers... what that happens there are all sorts of wild effects... most predominant being the sonic boom... which would have shattered the glass of wtc... and you would have seen it on the camera cuz it would have skaken the entire aircraft... and anything getting that close to the chopper at that speed would have sent it into chaos... the wash would have sent it straight to the ground...

did anyone read my big ass post about this being a complete hoax?..the whole thing looks like a collaboration of video and it just looks like bulls*** to me.. I've studied aircraft al my life and I say its bulls***..

yes... i now realize this, i was just responding to his question about aircraft that can hover... i hadnt seen the videos yet... but no way a harrier could speed up like that... and no way anything could have gotten that close without upsetting the balance of the craft... so it has to be a hoax... unless the military has found some way to jump between space without upsetting air or something...
