TX Monday Night Protege Meets

OK everyone speak up.

a) Meet at Cafe RPM in Irving monday nights before 9pm when they close

b) Meet at Hooters 75 and Plano Parkway Monday nights at or shortly after 9 PM as we have the last few weeks.

c) pick a new spot (enter suggestions here)

If we meet at Cafe RPM we may make it over to Circuit City/Sams earlier since RPM closes at 9 pm

But I think Hooters is closer for most of the people who go every week and it's a lot closer to Sams and Circuit City where everyone else meets.

PS: I think we should hit up Circuit City tonight and see if the cops are still in force. Maybe someone with a front license plate can do a slow drive by and see.

B- keeping it at Hooters. We can still go to RPM on Weds with the RX7 club if we want.

I'd vote A) because RPM is about halfway out there for me, but then again I'm not a big influence with this group since I don't show up half the time anyway

I'll be out at RPM on Wedesdays with the 7 guys though....

If someone says they are going to be there, then I will make an effort to make it. I thought there had been another discussion about this on another thread, that Mondays was going to be the RPM night for the Protege's.

For me the problem with RPM is it just closes too early. I know Sam and Elemental often don't make it out on Weds nights for the same reason. It's pretty hard for us to make it out there before 8:30pm and it seems like kind of a waste of a drive to hang out for the 30 minutes before it closes only to drive up north again. Hooters however is open really late, and it's only 5 minutes away from the parking lot car meet were we end up afterward every time anyways.

How many other guys are coming from out in Arlington/ Fort Worth? Linux you're the only one I can think of. Victor can't make it anymore on mondays and rx7gslse has never been out on a monday, wensdays are his thing.

Perhaps a dual meet is in order? Before 9pm at RPM, Hooters at 9:30 and off to the meet at 10pm?

I vote for Hooters in Plano. You guys can still have wednesdays at RPM. For me at least its not worth driving to RPM that late to only be able to stay for 30 minutes or so before I have to head home for work in the morning. I would love to try and come to RPM on a Wednesday sometime soon but that wouldnt be a regular meet for me. We have a guy coming from Carrollton now and us regulars that are already in the Plano area. With hooters being right near both major highways it makes it a good spot for wasy access. Most nights I work until 9 (like tonight) so I wouldnt be able to make it to RPM.

Good, its still in Plano. I just spent 3 hours in this 102F weather washing, clay bar-ing and and waxing my car to look good tonight.


No kidding weather.com said its 102F but feels like 108F. Looks like I will NEVER do that again Tonight will be 79.

Well, We've not yet made any of the meets. I don't suppose you could make a meet thats on a weekend could ya'll??

We live south of Ft. Worth and while a drive to Plano is a possiblity a few times a month. Its not at all possible on Mondays. We're just lookin for some people to hang out with on a regular basis and so far its been difficult cause it seems most meets are way out in North Dallas.

Yeah, I agree we need a middle ground to meet at. The thing is the bigger car meets is in Plano.

seems to me....there are a lot of p5's mp3's and msp in ft worth that don't want to go to the dallas and plano meets every week because its too far. why not just have a weekly meet here somewhere, and every so often we can cruise out to the other meet.

My opinion is, that a weekly meet (although its nice to see everyone on a weekly basis) does not lend itself for people on the other side of town. I used to belong to the Prowler club and we used to meet the 2nd Saturday of the month at Papa's BBQ on NW Highway. And people from west Ft. Worth would drive, since it was once a month and most people would plan to be there, eat and have a good time. I propose a more centralized location, one meeting/month and if others want to continue on the Monday and Wed meeting, that still O.K. But an organized reunion would be great. Also we all work different schedules and days so it would be nice to find what days most have off or can meet. I have enjoyed the MOnday meetings and Linux and I have endure a 50 minute return trip home at 2:00 a.m. so I know others can make a sacrifice too if they are willing. God knows this could become the begining of the DFW Protege Club,

PS-Should see the faces of the people when we roll into the parking lot with 6-7 Pros, imaging 10-15!

We need to find a place between the Plano area and Arlington because thats what seems like will work the best. Although Irving would seem the middle point between the two places it isn't a straight highway path from the Plano/Richardson area to Irving like it is from Arlington to Irving. It looks to be about the same distance from Arlington to downtown Dallas as it is to Irving so thats a possibility, and downtown Dallas is a straight highway path from the Plano area.

For the Ft. Worth people it cuts the drive time almost in half to go to Dallas instead of Plano and its more of a straight path.

I agree that making this a once or twice a month deal would be more worth it for some people. There is always the problem of where in downtown Dallas to meet, somewhere close to the 3 main highways we would use is nice.

If this switch were to happen I might not be able to make it there as often as I can make it to the Plano meets, but I would try if we could meet earlier in the day (also would help with the pictures turning out better). Earlier meets would mean less trouble with the police too. Maybe on a weekend to avoid having rush hour problems and all of that.

Downtown Dallas location (yes or no)
Earlier meeting time (yes or no)
Weekend meet (yes or no)

Any other suggestions?

What abouth the Grapevine Hooters? It's centrally located, and it is a 10-15 minute drive from Arlinton/Ft. Worth. Plus it is easy access to 635.
