Two steps back: Deleted HKS Universal Limited Edition Black Super Sequential Blow Off Valve and Removed the Denso one step colder plugs.
I felt like I went backwards with the addition of these mods so I decided to go back. The HKS BOV made the car backfire and I felt did not allow the car to run smooth, the car did not feel right. I purchased the BOV used and I had it on for about 4K miles.
The Denso plugs had about 30k miles and needed replacing and I wanted to go back to a regular heat range plug to see if the car would run better. I decided that with my mods I did not need one step colder.
Two steps forward: Put the stock valve back on and changed the plugs to Mazda brand made by NGK, regular heat range.
The cars runs much better, It runs like it should, smooth, no backfiring, pulls harder, holds boost fine (I have a dash hawk).
I was surprised when I went to the Mazda dealer and they had Mazda/NGK plugs gapped to .28. I was expecting the dealer to be selling the FoMoCo plugs like the ones that came with the car. The Mazda/NGK plugs looked like they were well made so I purchased them, not cheep at $18 each, but nice plugs. More and more I feel like I should just leave the motor alone and spend money on things like better tires, and camber arms.
07 Sunlight Silver MS3, Mazdaspeed CAI, Mazdaspeed CBE, Mazdaspeed coilovers, TWM short shifter and bushings, SU rear engine mount, Hotchkins front and rear swaybars, Cobb turbo intake, Cobb shifter weight, Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, Motul RBF600 brake fluid, Hawk plus pads (track only), RE-01's (track only), Dashhawk, Fuel-Filler door.
