TWM bushing installation problem

I know the installation of the bushings is supposed to be easy as pie, but I hit a snag. At step 7 of the installation (the removal of the lighter face plate), I'm getting stuck.

When I try to lift up and out, the lighter face plate will not completely disengage. The driver side of the face plate pops off, but the passenger side of the face plate seems to be attached to something.

Part of me wonders if I'm doing something wrong, but I actually had a bluetooth button installed in the middle of the face plate and I'm also wondering if the place that installed it broke the face plate and just glued the right side back on. However, that's just me speculating.

Any tips would be appreciated because I really don't want to break a piece off...it looks like the plastic parts of the center console are really cheaply made.

Mine did the same thing, just had to screw with it a bit. I hear ya on that tho, don't want to break it. It will come out trust me...

Same problem here. I did my STS and bushings about an hour ago. POWERSHIFT, HOOOOOO! Anyway, push the side that popped off easily back in and remove the lighter side first, then the driver side. Also, if you are just doing the bushings, you don't have to remove the whole console.

If you don't have to remove the whole console, how can you get to the bolts under the console? I tried to get my ratchet under it console part of the rear left bolt, but it was too big.

What parts would you take off then?
