Turning DSC off fixes 2-3 miss-shifts?!

Ive figure out how to stop the grinding. You have to walk the shifter into third. Dont move diagonally, which i know is bs, but its a engineering problem of some kind. Instead quickly goto neutral then straight forward into third. Flick your wrist to do it quickly. Trust me, it works. I think its linkage binding or something.

And then all while you're doing that, you fall out of boost. :(

I just got done installing my TWM shifter with bushings and I gotta say it's very nice. Feels solid and took so much slop out of the shifter. I like it being almost 2" shorter also. I need a new shift boot now that fits better. Hello Redlinegoods. :)

I have 2-3 grinding on quick shifts and what works for me is to change my timing and focus on pushing the clutch in a pube sooner than I normally would before pulling or pushing the shifter out of/into the next gear. Hope that makes sense

It's as if the clutch engagement can't quite keep up with clutch pedal movement, slightly delayed

Not sure about that. My '99 Miata had one of the best tranny's I've felt, other than my S2000, but maybe comparing apples to oranges with RWD/FWD.

I've had this car about a week and a half now and already have about 800 miles on it (I commute alot). I've missed 3rd two or three times now and it's made me sick to my stomach every time (also have a nice rock chip already, but that's another story). I thought it was me, but I guess it isn't after reading the above. Every car I've had since starting to drive has been a manual and haven't had a problem until now. I've got a TWM short shifter and bushings sitting on my table that will be going in this weekend and Corksport inserts on the way. Also have 3 bottles of MT90 that'll go in probably in a few weeks, so hopefully this solves the issue. This problem doesn't seem to go away after the car heats up. It's always there, so I don't think it's a fluid issue. I think it's a linkage issue with this motor moving around more than it should in between shifts.

It's good to know the Miata feels nice. You won't believe this but my Protege used to grind 2nd on every single shift (started at around 15K miles).

Then I changed transmission fluid to a creative mix of synthetic fluids...

And the problem virtually went away. I was surprised how much a simple fluid change could do!

I will have to give that a try because my method would achieve the same thing and fool me into thinking the path was the issue when its timing.
