Turning DSC off fixes 2-3 miss-shifts?!

Did some spirited driving today and missed 3rd gear like 3 times in a row during some aggressive pulls. By the third time I did it I was paying close attention to my clutch in/shift timing yet it still caught a slight grind.

Frustrated, I decided to turn off DSC- I never missed a shift after that. I'm not one to assume trivial stuff like this can be magical fixes but I swear I felt a difference. (Btw, I DO have an upgraded MM).

Additionally I notice my 2-3 and 3-4 shifts SOUND clunky, especially at lower rpm/speeds. I remember reading something about this on here but has anyone looked into this. I mean with the windows down and very little wind noise you can hear it as loud as day *CLA CLUNK!*

Is this indicative of a problematic tranny or just a normal "feature" on our cars?

I believe it's a problematic transmission as many of us have the same issue from time to time.

Some will say it's all about timing, etc, etc but it's too widespread of a problem for that to be the case. Plus it's seems to be the 2-3 shift consistently.

There might be a few tips on how to "adapt" to the flaw but it's a "flaw" nonetheless.

I predict some sort of recall in the near future in regards to this issue.

i hit 2-3 well, never really had an issue, my problem is 4-5, 5th gear seems to always be missing..

My problem is I run out of gears. Have you guys ever tried to shift to '7th' gear on the highway. The car has so much pull even in 6th I sometimes find myself attempting another shift, heh.

I wouldn't worry about it. I few miss shifts isn't going to hurt anything unless you shifted from 6th to 2nd at like 80mph or something. From what I've read our transmission is pretty durable.

Granted I still have the occasional 2-3 miss shift its gotten better since when I first bought the car.

Here are my suggestions:

1. Full synthetic transmission fluid (redline, amsiol, etc) the good s***.
2. Rear engine motor mount.
3. Short shifter/ bushings.
4. Driver mod - Just pay extra close attention on that 2-3 shift.

I know this sucks but unfortunately that's about all we can do for now.

The clunk is normal - nothing wrong with your tranny (less all of ours are faulty)

As for turning DSC off making a difference I would attribute it to paying more attention to it - doubt the DSC has any bearing on making a shift - for that to be the case IMHO the misshift would have to be caused by syncros and the DSC would have to somehow influence them...

Having said all that, the shifter is the one item they could have improved... mushy to say the least... a lot swear changing the bushings made a world of difference - may want to give that a try

Had 2 & 3 done since before the first oil change.

Try wrapping your hand around the knob, rather than putting it on top. In this position, you can use your wrist to lean the shifter to the right as you are pushing it forward. It will go in much smoother that way. In fact, I often put my hand this way, but with the thumb down for the shift 5-6.

Read my original post- I DO have an upgraded MM....and shifter bushings for that matter.

yeah, Ive got a trz mount as well as shifter bushings and Istill have this problem occasionally.
It's ridiculous. Same gear as you, 2-3.

I've missed the 2 -> 3 shift a handful of times, both before + after the CS MM inserts + TWM bushings. Sometimes its just not there, or it grinds slightly
