Turboxs Hybrid BOV,backfire issue?

Short answer (rare for me) -

A Recirculating Bypass system is what you need if you want to avoid overly-rich shifting conditions (caused by a Blow Off Valve releasing previously metered air into the atmosphere.) Doing something just for the sound? Why not just make the cool noise with your mouth while you shift, because hampering your car's performance isn't worth it. This is only my opinion, and I'm sure some people will get on me for making that comment, but I don't care.

a BPV still has sound because the air can be heard running through the system. Instead of a squeak/squawk/pshshsht/etc., you just get more of a Darth Vader-type sound. Since I've owned a few turbo cars, all with recirculating bypass systems, it sounds like a turbo to me. A video game like GT4 is showcasing the sounds from racing-style BOV's, and cars made to run them. Standalone or MAP-based cars can do this, but MAF based vehicles suffer the consequences of losing their metered air.

I read something earlier about Flutter Effect. That sounds bad.

It can happen in Atmospheric mode, but not in Recirc mode? Is this true?

In Atmos mode you get sound, but no sound in Recirc mode? Is this true?

I like playing GT4 and hearing the cool turbo blow off sounds. I don't get that with my MS3 which makes it somewhat anti-climatic. But if I can only get it wh Atmos mode then, maybe the flutter effect ain't worth it. <--That probably didn't make any sense. Anyone want to give it a shot?

the flutter effect happens when the spring in the blow off valve is too stiff and doesnt release enough air...the air stays in the piping and spins the turbo backwards....this causes the flutter sound which is called compressor surge i believe. you shouldnt have a problem with non adjustables because they are usually univeral and will work fine to a certain psi limit. say 25-30psi...adjsutable blow off valves , bypass valves let you mess around with the spring tension so you can change the spool up time of the turbo or soemthing like that. sometimes you can **** up so i just went non adjsutable

- i jsut switched my hks back to recirc...the car runs like a dream in recirc...vta stumbles and backfires occasionally...i change it every now and then when i want to hear the well known hks whistle.
