So now that I have had a chance to go through a couple tanks of gas on the turbo P5, I find that I'm getting great mileage.

My first two tanks went like this:

Tank1: 25.6mpg - Mostly city driving

Tank2: 32.9mpg - Almost all on the interstate

That's just crazy to me but I rechecked my math over and over. I am more surprised by the first tank because I got into boost fairly regularly and did a few hard interstate runs for some testing.

Anybody else seeing great FSDE-T fuel mileage?

having the boost turned down I have experienced crappy gas milage

boost turned up I went close to 250 miles on a full tank in suburbs... that's suburbs!! I don't travel much and it takes me awhile up to 2 weeks to burn through a full tank of gas

I'm sure the tune always has something to do with it. I need to install my wideband so I can see what kinda A/F ratios I'm looking at. From what I have been told, the base HiBoost map is programmed to run pretty rich so I was expecting horrible mileage.

FTR: I have the standard HiBoost kit @ 8psi, custom 3" exhaust, 5 speed and 93 octane Shell V-power. I also just changed the oil, plugs and wires for Mobil1 5W-30, NGK V-power ZFR6F-11 (gapped at .030) and NGK Wire Set, respectively.

yeah,,, i had good mileage with the boosted p5, i had ~320-380 miles in a full tank.

My 1.5L beast makes ~220-240mi

oh you have the base HIboost tune? wow are you serious you're getting better gas mileage? Dude i have a hiboost kit and with the base map my A/F was dipping down into the 9's while cruising and idling sometimes. I got like 200-250miles to a tank. I got it tuned a lil by sam and its a lil better but i don't have a working Odometer to check for sure. and it still dips into the 10's at some cruising RPM's.

So overall with the Base hiboost tune i can say it effectively cut my gas mileage in half over stock. You're lucky.

Start checking for boost/exhaust leaks, and/or loose exhaust hardware. Trust me.
