TurboCharged 3 Rotor RX8

03MzdSpdSTP, what's the deal? Insulting two members in the same thread in a matter of a half hour?

That kind of stuff doesn't fly here. If you have something to contribute to the thread, then do so. If not, then don't.

pretty sure it's the 26b 4 rotor

20b 3 rotor is the largest mass-produced motor. The 26b 4 rotor was only made/used for racing, although many people build their own, out of 2 13b's or 2 12a's. Really there is no limit to the number or rotors you can 'stack' up....the hard part is 1 getting the bolts to hold all the housings together and 2 getting an ecentric shaft.

Acosta Racing has a 950hp 3 rotor (race gas) but its more of a show car/dyno queen.

What trany are you running?

we using the RX8 6 speed tranny on it with a few modification , custom input shaft, hardened secong gear and crown, counter shaft. the rx8 6 speed tranny is durable with the exeption of 2 gear. all depents of the drivers shifts skills. This car is daily street driven an runs on pump gas everyday to work the acosta racing is more for show and i cant forget that's very impressive too. (cheers)

Acosta motorsports has a shop in my town, and i see their mazde driven on the streets quite often, during warm weather it's driven to the shop daily.

The shop is a little pricy, most of the time they do a good job and are really cool guys.

Was the 26b the powerplant for the Le Mans record-killing Mazda 787B? Just curious because I know that the 787B was a 4-rotor but don't know the engine code. If I remember correctly the 787B ran the Le Mans 24hrs without turbos but still developed ungodly horsepower. Is that right? BTW sweet-ass car.

yeah 2nd gear is one of the weak links, I know a lot of the GT cars are running a differnt shift fork for 2nd and 3rd and 4th gear as well. since those tend to not only be weak but also the gears you find yourseld in the most.

also what rear end are you running, the rx7 diff or still stock?

yeah the 26b was the motor mazda made for the Lemans 787b the first (and I think only) japanese production car to win the 24hr Lemans race.

It was NA, had individual throtle bodies and varable length intake runners (the intake runners for the TB actualy got shorter as RPM increased.

It also had 3 spark plugs per rotor. (or was it 4, nah Im pretty sure it was 3)

It made 700hp@9000rpm NA (for a 2.6L).

NA 3 rotors are common in road racing, making about 450hp on race gas, on the street it would be easy to make about 400hp NA with a 3 rotor. Although most are turbo and around 500hp. You can get very close to 700-800hp with a turbo 3 rotor and still be streetable. Anything above about 800 will see the need for race gas, ect.

I have seen as high as 650 hp from a turbo 2 rotor in an rx7, i dont know the exact specs on the motor or turbo, but it was REALLY fast.

A trubo 4 rotor could make near 1000hp-1200hp I would think, and still be able to run on pump gas. Maby 1500+ with race gas.

We using the stock one. this is more stronger than FD inclusive the LSD is more stronger. We the exeption of the haft shafts, we raplace that's for a custom ones 50mm. (shrug)

Nothing 7-800 hp is streetable.

i just mean you can tune for that power on pump gas with some cars and the right mods. I could actualy get by with 120wtq and 180whp for a daily driver in my rx8....oh wait.....i already do that stock...lol (boom07)

does mazda still mass produce 20b's? if they made that combo a production car, that would be a truely awsome super car
