Turbo timers, boost controllers, boost gauges Etc

Hey guys I am new to the whole turbo thing so here is my question, I have heard of you guys adding things like a turbo timer, boost controller and boost gauges to your msps now I need to know what they do and what type of horsepower improvements it gains, also will they void the warranty?

i beilieve a turbo timer lets the engine run a minute or so after you take the key out of the ignition so that way, the hot oil in the lines don't run down to the turbo, for cooling reasons, helps keep the engine and turbo "healthy," a boost conroller proabbly controls how much boost/psi to run at certain rpm/mph ranges, and a bosst gauge just shows you how much psi your actually running. people correct me if i';m wrong on these things, Lol!

Turbo Timer: This allows the turbo to cool down after running. Being as this car is oil and water cooled, it does not need a long time to cool down. This will not void the warranty if you use a plug and play harness. If you cut and splice they may look at voiding your electrical harness warranty work.

Boost Controller: This bleeds air from the wastegate allowing more boost to pass into the engine. The manual states not to modify the wastegate solenoid signals, so this would void your warranty if something were to happen.

Boost Gauge: This monitors your boost boost or boost/vacuum that is going into the engine. Simple install, good mod. Will not void your warranty if you "T" into a manifold line that is not connected to the Bypass valve or wastegate.

Boost controller is the only mod to gain power.

Turbo Gear

Brennan,

Turbo timers:
So long as the car is air to air intercooled and the turbo is oil and water cooled that I understand this model mazda is then to avoid paying or a turbo timer just let your cool down a little bit before you stop it. Normally done by avoiding boost before stoping (2 -3 minutes before distination) I have one question if turbo timers we so improtant then why don't porsche, Lotus, use them and then have been using un-turbo timed turboed cars for years, this really is only a Japanese thing/gimic.

Boost controlers:
Well if you really want to be placing more boost on your car thats up to you but I would reckomend you seek advice of turbo experts to see if and how much more boost the car can handle.
boost to high and have great for a while then blow an engine...
but boost within the engines capeabilitys and your fine.

Boost Gauges:
Are a good idea if you add more boost so you can see how much you've added.

(Just my opions and experences from tuning many GTR's and owning one)

GTR's

I have tuned R32 - R33 - some R34's, Also GTiR's, Silvias, some Supras. Mostly Race, and drag stuff.
They are great cars, I owned a White R33 for 2 years which I raced also. But now I have had to just work on them due to have a kid with my wife.

turbo timers make the turbo spool up faster, increases turbo time, hence turbo timer.

boost gauge lets you dial in how much boost you want to run. awesome for quick horsepower gains.

boost controller is the actuall regulator that u hook up to the gauge so u can dial it up as i explaied before
