Sorry Off topic:

Niceville! Damn I see you all the time going south on 85 don't I?
I work in Valparaiso at the Coke Plant. When I get my MP3 back you will be able to reconize me :D
See ya round (thumb)

Ahh, I've seen your car at Quality Imports, well you guys can't help a brotha out with some info, hope you get your car soon bro

My turbo system may be for sell. It is Spoolins turbo starter kit plus the rest of the system. (charge pipes, BOV, FMU, Boost Controler, Boost gauge, Air Fuel Gauge, etc.)

WHAT!? How come big ben? You just put it in. Are you going to go with a different set up?

Dave

No, at least not right now. I think I may have fu*ked up my motor. I unknowingly ran out of oil one morning. I had a very small oil leak that turned into a big one and I think my piston rings or the oil seals at the bottom of the cylinders may be bad now.

Ouch that hurt big ben. ARe you gonna get new piston rings? If you do sell your turbo is that all the parts I'm gonna need to run a turbo set up and how much are you asking for it?

It is everything you need to be boosted. Just install it. I put some prices in the for sale section. I'll let it go for $2800. That is a damn good price to not have to do any work except to install it.

So big_ben, are you temporarily or permanently leaving the boost world? Sad to see. You put so much work into this thing!

Chris

I'm not sure yet. It's still not a done deal. I'm going to try a few things out this weekend and if it is the piston rings then I will definetely sell the turbo. But as for right now, I'm just trying to see if anyone is interested in buying the kit from me. But if it does end up being the piston rings, I'm going to do what I can to stop the smoking, then maybe trad it in on a WRX if I can afford the insurance. I'm just not sure yet. I don't mind having to sell it, the only part that sucks is all the work I put into it. All those weekends are wasted now.

hey ben i might take that from you...but what u think caused this leak???....honestly....i understand any negative remarks towards your turbo setup would hurt the sale but....u have to look at it from a buyers stand point...i odnt want the same to happen to me...get me?

The leak was my fault. I must not have tightened the oil return hose tight enough. I can assure you there was no damage done to the turbo. Just to my car. :( I'm going to take a closer look at it this weekend to see the extent of the damage. I'll keep all of you updated.

Hey Ben Why dont you just keep your turbo & replace the piston rings your self? I dont see why you have to get rid of the turbo.:(

The time and money involving the replacing of the piston rings is very expensive. If I do it myself, it will take a while since I have never done it. I can get the shop manual and do it, but it's still iffy. I may just try to get it to stop smoking and sell the car or trade it in.

Hey Ben,

I ordered the 2001 Mazda Protege Shop Manual yesterday, and you know it is at your disposal. I've been where you are now, and much worse! It will all work out.

Realy sorry to hear that Ben. Anyway Ben, if you want to sell your car, you must repair it, so why not just do the repair and go ahead with your turbo MP3. It's a very bad luck this leak but you must not get discouraged by that.

Whichever decision you will make, I wish you good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I think I may just fix it and keep it non turbo for a while. I'm still selling the turbo since me and my wife are about to buy a house very soon. I'm still not sure what road to take with the car.
