Turbo seals

If the seals are blown, which part of turbo would actually show residue from burnt oil? If its burning in and through the exhaust I dont think it would be shown on the turbines because thats where its forcing the air in, you would have to look on the exhuast half to see if theres oil there right? Or no? If Yes then basically you would have to take off the down pipe and wiggle in there and look some how, that sucks.... Im going to call my dealer and ask if they can send me a pic of the turbo if theres any residue anywhere.. might help?

...I just talked to them, they said they'll try to take some pictures so ill post them if I get them..

It would be nice to know how to check it before you put on a DP and smoke all day long like i do now. I am going to a mazda3 meet on sunday just to show off my smoke. Driving my car to work everyday is embarrassing, its the best when im at a stop light and can see my smoke cloud passing my car.

Yeh it really makes your car feel nice huh??!! lol (dunno)

hit up ebay....you can get a catch can for under $20. that is all you need. there is no need to pay $100 for a friggin can just cuz it says GREDDY or whatever on it. just make sure to put it in the right spot. it goes inline with between the PCV valve and the manifold...not up by the intake tube.

Agreed. eBay catch cans seem to start around $30 shipped. They seem like a pretty good bargain at that. You might build your own for about $20 in materials, but I would rather spend that time doing something else.

My car doesnt smoke and never really has,It just uses more oil then I think is normal. Then when I removed my stock midpipe there was oil in it.I was just thinking that the stock Cats stop it from smoking for some reason and I still have the stock DP with the Cat..
I was just really wondering if there was a way to check the seals so I could rule the turbo as ok or not ok.

Thanks

I think you answered your own question... Oil in any part of the exhaust is a no-no... Your exhaust should only have some carbon build up...and should be dry!!

Hey all,The last few days my boost is only going to about 12psi.I can get it to 15psi if Im in 5th or 6th gear at low rpms like around 3k and I punch it.I removed my mbc and put it all back to stock and still the boost is low.I havent removed my fcd yet since its been so cold outside.I check for leaks and couldnt really see or notice any problems.Could a bad turbo seal cause me to lose boost thru the exhaust?
Im calling my dealer in a few days to take my car in to check for bad seals and some other work but Im waiting till the weather gets a bit warmer so I can change out my race pipe before I go.
