Replace Faulty Valve Stem Seals?

I have 92,000 miles on my Mazda CX-5 with the faulty valve seals. When I first purchased the vehicle it would burn oil on occasion. Not all the time. Now it seams to have stopped burning oil. What would cause this? Is there buildup on the valve stems which causes a better seal? Is the oil pressure lower? Do the seals swell over time? I am trying to decide if I want to push the dealer to have the seals replaced. 90% of miles are highway.

Wouldn't it be difficult to get Mazda to fix a problem (oil consumption) that isn't currently happening?

I did start doing the oil changes myself with Mobil One and Kirkland Brand.
I understand that Mobil 1 can be considered a fairly stout oil, maybe that helps reduce consumption. Does it smoke when you restart the engine after it has been warmed up?

Maybe things have improved, because in my LS1 days (15 years ago) it seemed like Mobil 1 was the default oil but everyone was moving away from it for better options.
