Turbo Rotary Mazda B2600i Minitruck Build!

I hear what you are saying about keeping it as much Mazda as possible anyway :)
What about buckets from a newer Mazda pickup? Like mid 90's?
I have primo seats that came out of the truck! But, I don't wanna use thek lol.

They're just not the right fit for the style of the truck now.
I know I'm prolly just being super picky, but I figure I might as well get what I want and do it the way its gonna look best. I don't wanna be doing things twice on this and once its done I want it to be done for good so I can just enjoy it ya know?

We wait till you post a lot then we read and comment.. hehehehe. I think dremel makes a disc designed to cut plastic. Basically so it doesn't melt the plastic you're trying to cut. Check it out.

I will be running a walbro inline. Not sure on output yet as I'm not sure on what kind of numbers I'm looking at. I will also need to upgrade injectors and such, but it will come with time!

Post up a build thread for yours also! Its always interesting to see what other people do differently and such, and thanks for the kind words!

JESUS CHRIST!!! Now this is a build thread! Nice work. Where in Colorado are you? I'm in Highlands Ranch.

I'm in grand junction.

Well, I ordered some big deal parts for this build, so as soon as I get back in town from work its on!

I have been in rock springs wyoming, fallon nevada, reno and now I'm in bakersfield california lol. I'm supposed to be flying home early Monday, so hopefully after I mow the grass and s*** I can start on the truck again!

Updates soon!

hey man quick question about the motor mounts. why did you go with cutting your mounts out and getting custom ones made why didnt you just lower/slant your stock mounts? do you know if that moves everything forward too far?? (stock driveline being too short) pertty much i would like to know if you looked into this option and if so what did you find

Basically, I was hard up for clearnace since I am body dropped and such.

U need to move the engine back as far as possible since the way it sits in the rx7 is so far forward since the nose is so huge and has plenty of room for an intercooler and things. Also u want to get the shifter in a good location, so bringing it back as close to the firewall was the best bet for me.

There are other options of moutning points and different oil pans and bellhousing and tailhousings and such to get desired results, but I am very satisfied with the placement of everything.

The only other thing I might change is to drop the engine back down a little, but then I pinch the turbo piping and make steering harder to work since I am rhd.

The best part about custom mounts is u get to position the engine just where u want it!

Great question though, that's the kind of brain wracking ii like lol!

The big parts are in!

Still waiting on a couple more and then I will get up some pics for all u mofos!
Made a good deal of progress last week, but didn't get as far as I wanted.
The weather was horrible and I had a birthday party to take the kids to and then my friend from missouri came into town, so I spent some time with him before I had to go back to work, but hopefully I can get some pics up before my buddies wedding this weekend.

Getting old sucks...

That's what I tell myself when I wake up in the morning and my knees sound like rice crispies. *SNAP *CRACKLE *POP!

Any updates on the project? I've been looking for a B1600 or B1800 or even a Ford Courier but nothing good yet.

why dude why? when i saw the update in my subscriptions i thought you had FINALLY uploaded new pics lol but seriously i need pics =(

UPDATES!

so its been awhile since i posted pics, but here are some updates.
i have been super busy with work and other things, but i have got some big deal parts and some work done!

first off i got everything fitted and then started welding the floor up solid with the tranny tunnel and getting working on the back of the cab floor!
i spaced the tranny tunnel up and then welded 16 ga strips to it and it made the floor super solid...

i also picked up a matching rx7 center console and started the tranny tunnel.

random horrible pic of the step up spacing for the floor. shows how much i had to raise it to clear the frame!

and the drivers side...
5724606835_a2e9e79e06_b.jpg

then i cut the rear floor section. i am hoping to have enough room to run rx7 rear seats also, but thats fr a different day, plus theyre f***ing hard to come by in good condition and not cost $500, so that will have to wait...
5724603761_82a2529881_b.jpg

making sure everything is gonna be level and square is important. everything is gonna be covered in carpet, but it needs to feel like it is stock and not custom. basically i want this to feel like it came this way from the factory and everything fits without being cramped even though i am using an interior from a car..
5724609115_58c1581bdd_b.jpg

so to keep with the car theme, its gotta have a hand brake instead of the pull style that trucks of this year have. so i got an rx7 ebrake setup and cut the mount off the rx7 tranny tunnel to use the ebrake and keep the flow of the car interior. here is the sheetmetal cutout, and measurements have been taken and the tranny tunnel will be sectioned to make this fit and look like it was meant to be...

here is the ebrake handle...

now onto the upgrade that i lost sleep over! i know i said i was in no hurry for seats, but i came across these from Magnum on here for a smoking deal! thanks a bunch dude!

rx7 fc turbo II seats in primo condition! they are super comfy and fit so nice with the style and theme of the truck!
not installed, but mocked up!

i also got my fc lower intake manifold to fd upper adapter and my daughter was helping me test fit it!
5740934436_1325f41bf5_b.jpg

so my other truck stil doesnt run. i am having vacuum issues, so i said f*** trying to deal with chasing vacuum leaks and junk...
5725171346_2b8467c62a_b.jpg

so i bought a weber carb for it! lol. if the weather would get nicer and i didnt have a wedding to go to today and im sure ill be hung over tomorrow, but ill try to get it on even though its supposed to rain. anywho, heres the weber..

5740939418_75166053f1_b.jpg

and then i got this keychain for the other mazda... gotta be able to differentiate between the keys for the rotary and the piston engine lol...

anyway, i hope u guys enjoy the updates, and hopefully i can make some more headway in the next week or so...
