just rechecking fitment now that i have a decent amount of floor welded in. the floor is also very solid, and helds my weight very well and it isnt even fully welded yet. i think imma start on the driver side either today or tomorrow...

also i might be looking for different seats, but im not sure yet. trying to get a good mental picture of how these will look reupholstered, and idk if theyre really worth my time or not...

any suggestions? i need somehting really low that are really comfy but not huge...

These r first gen rx7 seats with the headrests cut off. I really wanna get some fc seats, but they're so fucken expensive...

I would stay away from the FC seats. In my opinion not only are they not comfortable but they aren't low at all. I have a '89 GXL, which supposedly had the "luxury seats", and my back starts hurting after driving for little over 2 hours. Sure I have stiff coilovers but when I had a Sparco Torino II for the driver's seat I could go much longer before back pain set it. I'm sure the B-Series trucks have more interior room but with the stock seats I only have about 1" of headroom and I'm not a very big guy (5'-10", 160 lbs). Also bear in mind the passenger seats are weird - the interior seat mount (transmission tunnel) is actually angled (about 30 degrees to the ground) and is further back than the outside mount. Still, if you're dead-set on FC seats I'd be more than willing to part with mine. Shipping is the hard part...

what tranny are you using with this build
stock fc tranny...

i have honestly never set in them, but they would go with the style of build i am going for...

i am in no hurry for seats, since u dont really need seats for a truck that doesnt move out of the garage, but i would be interested in a price possibly, and u can ship seats for around $60/seat via greyhound!

hopefully more updates soon!

Alright guys, well I have updates!

I held a turbo manifold in my hands tonight!

Too bad it didn't fit right and modifications need to be made. But atleast there is progress and it is tacked together!

We took more measurements and he took it back to his shop to make alterations, so in another year or so I should have it back! Lol

But holy hell did it look fukken awesome!

But for real updates, I did a bit of welding today and got a good portion of the driver floor done! Ill get up some pics here in a bit!

WOW, well its dead in here... no love i guess

anywho, heres a couple pics. thought i took more last night, but i guess not...

i liked this pic, so i figured i would put it up...
i got this table yesterday from my neighbor that just sold her house. she figured i could use it for something. i dont think she figured i would use it as a welding table lol...

hopefully more updates today if the wind and rain stay away..

Magnum, i pm'd u about the seats!

anywho on with updates...

seems like u guys get all pissed off when i dont update, but when i do, nobody seems to care, so i guess ill update this for myself...

so, i decided to make sure my driveline was going to work before i fully welded the floor, so i cut off the existing yoke so i can have the rx7 yoke welded on and balanced. very happy with the fitment and the angle, so i can pretty much check that off the list.

yoke cut off...

so i was checking clearance on everything and trying to make sure everything is going to line up and fit like a factory interior should, so i put interior back in. i have pretty much decided on using the same year rx7 seats as everything else came in, so i am currently looking for a clean set while also trying to sell all the extra parts i have since i am running out of room very quickly...

seats mocked up, dash, floor blah blah blah..

5640534165_217558c9ea_b.jpg

so i am having clearance issues that probably arent a big deal, but i want everything to fit just right, so im stressing over it. i came up with a solution, but i dont wanna f*** anything up, so i havent done it yet. basically what i need to do is take two inches out of the dash. this will be easy since i have two inches of excess at the bottom where it meets the floor. but my problem is i dont want to take a cutoff wheel to it and melt the s*** out of it, so i am thinking of the best way to cut plastic without messing everything else up and hopefully preventing having to have the dash recovered....

i also thought i could use the rx7 tranny tunnel other than the truck one that i have been using in mockup. so i went outside in the wind/rain and cut out the tranny tunnel from the rx7 i have sitting in the backyard lol. i was excited cuz it had the dead pedal and was made to fit around that tranny, so i figured it would work better. but after i got it cut out and put inside the truck it is actually wider and taller than the truck tunnel, so i dont think it will work. damn the luck lol...

another fun thing is gonna be getting the pedals and steering to all work. i was trying to hold everything in place and try to get it to work by myself, and it looks like its gonna be super amounts of fun! im just kinda rambling right now since i have been neck deep in this truck pretty much all week trying to brainstorm and i have a lot going through my head right now...

so here is my goofy ass holding up the steering column and steering wheel making sure everything is gonna line up and im not gonna be mushed in the driver seat. basically the seats need to go back an inch or so, but everything should be fine... ill have u know i sat in that seat for a good hour while my wife brought me beers and i just sat there and smiled lol...

5640540069_e93ed63347_b.jpg

so basically, i am looking to sell a bunch of parts. i have a turbonetics turbo that i am wanting to sell and a bunch of seats and rims and such so i can buy new seats and a new steering wheel. i dont like this steering wheel, but am not a fan of most of the "tuner" wheels. so if anyone has any good ideas for a steering wheel, post em up!

other than that, i hope to get out in the garage again tomorrow and get a whole shitload of work done. i really wanna have this floor done by the end of the week so i can pull the cab and start fully welding it from the bottm and also finish my plating the bottom of the cab for the bodydrop. then it will be on to the bed... yaya!

hope u guys enjoy these updates, and sorry for the book!

I'm diggin' the updates, things are looking great!
thanks a lot! its sure dead in here lately...
What rims do you have...well, I know of the one set, lol...
if ur talking about the racing harts, i sold them months ago doggggggg...

rims on the mazda i have cadillac escalade 17s right now....

the rims i want are a good $600 apiece without tires, so after this thing is up and running i will splurge on them badboys!

ah, and nice to see u around man, havent seen hid nor hair of u for a year or so...
p.s. got any killer seats that u could hook me up with?

Loving the updates dude! Keep up the hard work! Have you ever considered seats out of a Durango or Dakota? Not sure if they would fit, but they mount pretty low to floors and are comfy IMO!

i think your best chance of cutting any plastic would be a fine blade hack saw. but i really dig the dash it looks great as does the rest of the truck

I wanna keep it mazda if at all possible, and also have a sporty feel without going with racing buckets. I guess I have never paid attention to the dakota and durango seats, but I will take a look on ebay and see what they got!

Thanks a lot. The dash is killer and fits in there like it came from the factory!
I was thinking about a hack saw also, but dunno how good of a straight line I will be able to cut. I'm really not in a rush, but I would like to get it out of the way for sure!

Loving it..
Nice to see some people stopping by for a visit!

Oh, and thank ya kindly sir!

Good idea!
I don't have one, but I can get one at harbor frieght for cheap lol!

Thanks a lot. Weiird I didn't. Think about that haha.

Oh, and looked at the durango seats, and they're nice, but not really what I'm lookin for!

I hear what you are saying about keeping it as much Mazda as possible anyway :)
What about buckets from a newer Mazda pickup? Like mid 90's?
