Sorry for being a newbie, I've only owned and done stuff to N/A cars so I understand all of that stuff, but i've never owned a turbo car so some of the upgrades i'm not all that famliar with.

What benefit do I get if I was to buy one of those HKS BOV?

There really isnt any gain from a BOV. it is purely for sound infact it might even make you car slower. i had one on and it made my car run like ish so i took it off.

this is a great thread on exhaust theory which breaks down a lot of information on how exhaust relates to turbo. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67805

BOV is more for looks/sound than performance. Differences between BOVs are internal production, how well they release boost how much boost they hold and how fast they recover.

The other major factor in forced induction is the intercooler. You want the coolest air as possible to be able to cram more into the cylinder before ignition. larger intercoolers or front mounted intercoolers help with this. But with larger intercoolers you need more air to build pressure so there is always a trade off. You need to find the happy medium.

Turbo is all about pressure ratios. You want the highest pressure before the turbine and the lowest pressure after. I'm just starting to get a good grasp on these concepts and there is a ton of information to be had on this forum and around the web.
