Turbo P5 for sale...

My friend bought a 94 Del Sol for $10k and it had a body kit, new 2001 civic si engine, aem intake, cat back exaust, and custom paint job. If the pervious owner had put in the old engine he could have sold the Si engine for 6k and the car for whatever.

I pay 230 a month for the car, 130 for my loan for the turbo, and 180 for a personal loan to get this sucker fixed. This stuff adds up, I did shoot high, but I was only trying to get input, and I apprieciate all of it. I'm still tron between making these outragous payments or selling my car for enough to pay all this crap, which is, 8,000 left on car, 4,000 left on turbo, 1,500 left on re-building parts. Now like I said I need a ride, and my uncle is only asking 18k for his M3, which is already a very low 13 to high 12 second car. I know it's hard to sell a car for just about a penny over blue book, especially in this economy. But like some of you have said there are those rich kids who will be mezmerized (sp?) by the quote "one of the fastest P5's in Cali" And let's not forget this is the silicon valley. As for putting the car back to stock, I'd spend quite a bit of money buying some stock parts, I got rid of a lot of that crap a while ago. Plus in my eye's, at least the turbo, is worth more on the car because thats what sets it apart from any other P5 on any lot or in any ad. Keep the input coming, it's helping :)

I thought you were building an engine for high boost? Why stop half way through the build.

Oh dear! Thats a funny rumor, how'd that get started? This is the first I've heard of this Mike, but hey that would be great it I were, then maybe they'd help out with the cost a little. yeah fat chance!

see, you ****** up because you were too impatient to save up the money and got stomped by a loan.

Never, ever, ever get rid of your stock parts!

Well, I guess since you can't get your car back to stock, you'll just have to sell the car as is. It might be difficult but someone will buy it. I've got friends who buy used cars and slap rims on them, bottle feed them, and put in little things like gauges, shift knobs, pedals and an exhaust. Then they turn around and sell them. They make pretty good money off this and surprisingly there are alot of people who are interested in buying the cars they sell. There's even a car dealership here in So Cal that only sells used fixed up cars and people actually buy them. Although it pisses me off when I see people with those cars and start revving up!! It just makes me mad seeing someone try to race when they didn't even put in the time and effort into the car!! (That's another subject though)
Anyways, I think there is a possibility that you could sell the car, the only problem is the price. I suggest you put your car in autotrader.com. I'm sure you'll find somebody!
Good Luck!

Wow! A $540 per month car payment, and then I assume you must add some more for insurance too - Those are sure big numbers just to drive a Protege 5.

We see similar scenarios pretty frequently at Miata Forum.

Someone buys a new car, and gets the "mod bug" and eventually gets in so far over his head that the only way out is to sell the (heavily modded) car, and then they "take a bath."

It sometimes gets so bad that when a young fella makes a post something like "I've got $500 to spend on my car - What should I buy?" that I feel like replying "Make a couple extra car payments, and wait to start with the expensive mods until AFTER you actually OWN it - Things will work out much better" but of course, nobody ever wants to listen to crazy advice like that . . . .

That's a really nice P5, but $22,000 will get you a brand-new WRX and it's got a turbo, LSD, AWD and a warranty.

Yeah, I have to say I flinched when I read that he had taken out a loan to buy a turbo.

There was another guy some time back that posted that he could "finally afford a second car" and was seeking a $20k loan to buy a 3rd gen RX-7. No bank would lend him that much to buy a 10 year old car without a significant down payment, which he didn't have.

I kinda thought... by what logic do you figure you can afford a second car if you can't even save up a down payment?

Ok, I've come up with an idea. Bring the car back to stock, I have some parts but will need to buy only a few. Then sell it for like 15 or 16k with the lowering kit, wheels and all look mods which arn't many. Then sell all the mods seperatly and pay off all the payments then put the money left over on another car, maybe a Mazdaspeed. Or I'll take the M3.

It's a Flyin Protege kit with about 1000 miles on it, it was on the car for 3 weeks. And it's got the pimp BOV.
