ok so i was driving down the road and i was boosting perfectly fine and then i herd just the motor ... my turbo was still spooling but it makes a really weird noise...... the blow off valve is doing nothing i think i may of blown my turbo anyone have any insight on this problem what may of caused this.. my thoughts are a loose coupler somewhere i cant see

Yeah Its Probably A Blown Off Coupler That You Cant See, Id Check There First, Or A Hole In A Coupler Or Somethin

ok so its not a coupler..... you can hear the turbo fan just all messed up it sounds like its rubbing up against the walls.... and i have vac but no boost... this really sucks..do you guys know of where i can get a rebuild or a used one. its sucks because i have like very little funds at the moment due to paying off so many thing... if anyone know anything about a turbo please let me know asap.. thanks guys(silverprohttp://static.mazdas247.com/smilies/silverpro.gif

If it is a GT series Garrett, you can replace the CHRA (Center Houseing Rotational Assembly), but the center section is not a rebuild-able piece. May need to contact ATP Turbo.

sounds like it is time for a gt28rs, What do you mean it sounds like the fan is rubbing. If you mean the (impeller), just remove the intake and reach in to the Turbo. Check for shaft play and free spin. Hope this helps -Brandon-

I don't have this issue but a question related to this. Can the car run with a blown turbo? I mean I believe it'll roll and go but will you be ok for an extended period without it just less hp than a stock ES?

I ask because I was driving a diesel boxtruck, a turbo hose blew and the guy told me to keep driving and bring it in and they'd fix it.

technically sure the car can be driven without the turbo, it will act alot like an NA protege 2.0

if there are pieces broken or breaking off inside the turbo though i would not want to leave it on there and run the risk of those pieces making it into the engine.

Ahhh.... that's what I figured. It would probably run more like a 1.6L since there is actually drag created at that point right?

Ok so i have found out whats up. As i was taking apart the intercooler i found a small puddle of oil sitting inside of it. Then some oil on the pipes.... I took off the mani s pipe and turbo. There is seriously something wrong with the turbo there in excessive play in the shaft. So now i gotta work hard and save up some extra cash for either the stocky or upgrade

Just grab a upgrade, if you are buying new there is not a whole lot of diffrence in the price a few hundred bucks.
