Turbo Kits

Did you dyno it? What's the typical gain on the 2.3L with headers and where are those gains at in the RPM range?

If/when I get the $$, I'm putting in the turbo. I don't plan to drag race, I would just like to have that boost when passing. I may try to put my own kit together. I just need some $$ and time. I have a manual tranny... I wouldn't do this if I had an auto, as I have had bad experiences with that in the past.

i just installed a Thunder header on my 5 tonight. its designed for the 3 but it bolts right up! the tranny is pretty much identical to whats in the 3. i'm thinking of adding a trans cooler but i don't want to screw with my warranty too much on this car. I/H/E and springs might be as far as i go.

from what i've seen, mazda3 catbacks will with a bit of modification fit the 5. i am going to try it as soon as i get my hands on one.

Do it! An improved Tranny cooler will not void your warranty and in fact will only help prolong the life.

I personally couldn't stand the ATX so I bought the 5 spd manual Touring.

I'm set now, all I need is a set of improved shocks, bigger antisway bar and intake header and exhaust.

here are pics of the header. powerband is smoother especially up top. feels much stronger in the higher RPMS.

honestly, it did nothing for exhaust note. most people will be happy to hear that but i was hoping for some more snarl. :D

i too wanted the manual transmission but there were none to be had between maine and california and none in the production pipeline. they gave me a good deal on the 07 AT GT and i took it. do i miss the five speed? yeah, but the amenities of the GT sort of make up for it.

I waited months to get a 5-speed. The one they got in, had been damaged in shipping. That made my wait longer. I wanted the Stellar Green Silver, too. Not many options avail. w/ a 5-speed though. I put on my own rear bumper guard and added an auto-dimming rear-view mirror w/ compass.
