Turbo Inlet pipe thoughts and questions.

I had one on order from PG and then decided to cancel it and get in on the group buy of the Dash Hawk. But now im starting to think i want the inlet pipe. To you people that have it, seriously, is it worth it? Are there even any gains to be had with it? If you could do it again, would you? I know its not too expensive, but hey...money is money. Let me know your impressions before i hit the "Add to Cart" button ;-) thx.

Well, it will complement your intake system to run more smoothly. I heard it adds like 5-10hp?, but all it does in theory is you spool faster at lower RPM. And I have the RPMC turbo inlet, and I am happy with that.

That's definitely a plus right there. But I'm still shuffling the ball whether i want to dump 150-200$ on inlet. Anyone else care to chime in?

The RPMC is overpriced. Cobb and CP-e are both releasing one very soon, I believe sub-$200 range.

CP-E is 210 from them but can be had for 195

Cobb is 165

I bought a custom inlet that someone made, got it for $75 shipped to me. Install was a b**** for me to do.

For $75 I couldnt beat it. But for $150 and up I'd say it's a bit steep for something that SHOULD come with the intake anyways! The intake systems we buy stop before the inlet instead of going all the weay to the turbo, which is lame for us as its like buying HALF an intake system if it doesnt go all the way to the turbo. Companies are screwing people out of a whole intake system causing you to spend $150 plus just to complete the intake system, it's ridiculous.

The BEST value if you dont already have the inlet or an intake is the Corksport intake system that they sell which comes with a short ram intake system AND the inlet all together for $239 or so. That way you get EVERYTHING you need instead of spending $180 for an intake and an extra $160 for the inlet.

As far as gains wise. I would say it made the turbo definately spool faster and the intake/turbo whine louder which is great. Gains wise you will feel more at the top end, at least thats what I felt, as in, I felt more of a gain at WOT at the top end of the rpm. It does appear to get into boost quicker. I noticed a drop in MPG tho, not exactly sure why, and since I commute, the more mpg I have the better so that was a sure fire minus for me. But I was happy with my purchase for only $75 shipped. So if you plan to spend $150+ for yours I would say the gain is not worth the price. But if you get the $239 intake/inlet combo from corksport, that would be a great deal right there.

Ive been looking at the Cobb inlet, seeing as i have the Cobb SRI. Its more of a mental thing...just knowing that my intake isnt all the way to the turbo and that stupid pancake looking thing is in the way, makes me want to order the inlet, but judging by all the amounts of reviews ive seen, none of them recommend it as something worth more than 50$. The Cobb is 165$ plus shipping (from them). I guess im gonna have to see if i really want it or not.

thats probably why these companies arent selling the intake with the inlet. for one, its a b**** to put on. also, its a way for them to make more money.

For $239, its a good deal for the inlet and the intake combined. Rather than $150-200 for the intake and $150-200 for the inlet as well.

Exactly. They should sell an entire intake system, not sell 3/4 of it and then make you pay an extra $200 to finish it off. Maybe its because it's a turbo car I dont know. When you buy an intake for a civic or something like that, it goes all the way to the throttle body. But ours doesnt go all the way to the turbo, you have to spend the extra $200 to complete the intake system to make it get to the turbo. It should all come as one package.

The aftermarket intakes for the MSP went straight off the turbo and cost the same as a regular intake for the MS3. But then again, it's easier to get to on the MSP.
