Turbo Boost question

Ok,

So, I believe this is normal. Does it seem like some times the boost is fantastic and other times you can here the turbo spool but the boost is not there. This seems to occur when you are at full throttle in 2nd or 3rd gear mostly. I believe that it is the ecu doing this to help get fuel to the engine. Retards the timing? It basically does not do it when you mildly accelerate. Are all turbo cars prone to this behavior? Does anyone else notie this?

Did a search and found what I was looking for. No fix yet but what I really love is when I take a 3 page topic printed out to the dealer to fix or at least try to fix. Sorry to waste everyone's time.

Dude this happens to me and it pisses me off, supposedly the CAI fixes the problem but I hate it, and it seems completley random...

Well, the ECU is not controlling boost. It is only injecting fuel and modifying timing. The turbo will build boost by 3000rpm and if it is not you are either leaking the boost out of the BOV or a pipe, or your wastegate is malfunctioning. Definately not something that should be happening on a brand new car.

Lucky I guess

I havent had any of the problems with boost, stumbling, etc that some have had. I have nearly 3k on the car and have had nothing but consistent, smooth performance.
Boost builds quicky and holds through every shift.
I sincerely hope that Mazda can work this out for those who's cars have this condition.

sometimes it seems like boost does leak though...its odd sometimes...like youre missing power...like i could be at like 4,000 RPM and not feel the boost at all, but sometimes i can feel it a little before 3,000..its like...whatever...

I think there is something wrong with these cars. I am personally dealing with a customer who has the same problem and he is very upset.
I'm guessing its a ecu glitch. We will all find out soon enough.

I am also having that same problem. I thought that it was just me getting used to the new car, but my wife noticed the same thing. as soon as i get my boost controler and boost gauge on i'll be able to see whats going on.

check this out when you put the car in second gear and floor it you feel the initial growl. then the compression builds so quickly, that that it feels like you are being let down once your around 4000 to 4500. It's easily explained, T25 and 6.5 psi stock boost. It feels like a rocket for aboud 1.5 seconds then it's just more revs. It's like having a supercharger with turbo lag. I felt the same thing when it was stock but an intake and no muffler it makes it feel stronger over the whole power band.

Mazda put everything on the car that it needs to perform including a turbo.

Its up to the owner to either, make it perform to his/her standards, or just blame the emissions passing, fuel efficent, family loving car for not being as fast as they want it to be.

Everyone needs to stop bitching and do something about it

It's just like the news more bad than good

yeah just upgrade all yalls turbo bitches!!!! ahaha
nope the car leaks boost once again after you boost up. mine drops all the way from .62-.65 Bar all the way down to like .42 Bar sometimes. Usually bout .48-.51 Bar.

I-Am-Chris, you show you're adding an E-manage in your sig. I'm curious to see if this actually works as it's mostly a piggy back system. From what I've seen I didn't think signal modifiers would work under WOT conditions with these ECU's?

If that ends up working, let me know, I'm looking to do some tuning on these cars.

The eManage has been proven to work on the protege for FUEL control ONLY the timing control does not work with the Protege. But the fuel control works fine.

I'd like to see some information on that, like what protege it was installed on and the results. Anything you can provide?

yeah Havent installed it yet. Waiting on FMIC and turboback exhaust. I think Terry said it will work, but they cant get the timing to work with it. We will find out if not sell it and get an AFC or sell my kidney and get a Link.

Right Terry has had it installed on his MP3 working but has given up on it due to the fact it won't control timing.
