I have a friend with an 86 Rx-7. He's looking for a turbo kit for it and has only found a turbo upgrade for the TurboII RX-7s, his is a stock 86. Any help on finding a kit for his car would be appreciated.

You don't want to turbo a N/A 13b motor. The rotors have a higher compression ratio. If he wanted to do it right he would have to change the rotors as well. This makes the cost too high. Besides...used TurboII motors usually aren't very expensive. They can usually be had for less than $1500.

Higher compression then the 87-88 TII's...but it has the same compression as the 89-91 TII and 3rd gens(Series 5 and 6, respectively). Actually, with just changing out the intake manifold and running the stock computer, a N/A engine with fuel bumped up just a little bit(and timing adjusted) should be able to run 8-9psi without a problem...and probably be making 200rwhp.
