2006 Mazda 3I 5 speed.
Okay so im new to all this tuning. I have a Mazda 3I 5 speed, I was looking to change out my headers put in a cold air intake and new exhaust, Was wondering what else i can do to the I series, If there is nothing that i can really do should i even do what i was going to do with the headers, intake, exhaust? i always wanted a fast car thought i would come here an ask people who own Mazda and knows there way around the car.

Intake, header and exhaust on a 2.0 liter will net you about 15hp to the wheels. This will be noticeable, but you will by no means have a fast car.

I have a 2.3 liter and I've upgraded - cold air intake, optimized throttle body, header, exhaust, intake manifold, lightweight pulleys, deleted the balance shaft, hypertech tune and I only gained about 35 hp to the wheels. I don't have what most people consider a fast car either. Peppy, yes, but not fast. To be fast you need about 75-100 more hp to the wheels, and the only practical way is turbo or buy a better car to mod. Do that and you should be in the low 14's in the quarter mile, which is what I personally consider the beginning of having a "fast" car.

I would be happy with 15hp, I just like the sound the car has with some upgrades on it. no way would i ever be able to afford a turbo. This is my first ever Mazda thing has about 103,000 miles on it right now. I always wanted to buy a Mazda 3speed S but as of right now credit sucks an cash is very tight.
