tunersteve's 2011 Mustang GT thread

Just got some more good news. Corsa XO-pipe will be on the way next week. Pics/video coming soon.

Comparison of what I have now to what I will have:

I'm anxious to see how the X-pipe changes the sound. I can always take it off if I don't like it.

loud! lol, the X-pipe gonna make it louder? or just change the sound you think?

Looking at some videos, it appears that I keep the cats with the X-pipe, but it might deepen up the sound at idle and low rpm. I'll be sure to post video after I get it installed.

Thinking about doing the Alcantara shift boot from the GT500 as well, thoughts?:

Is stock leather? I'm not sure how I feel about that. Looks kinda like a bath robe.

Quick update:

Took my first all-highway trip yesterday to Cedar Point. Averaged about 22 mpg of highway driving and sitting in traffic. Cruised right around 80mph most of the way.

Today I took the car out and did the fall color fun run that the MI guys do every year. I was extremely impressed how planted the car felt through turns, and I was very comfortable with it, even in Sport mode throughout the drive. I was able to push the car harder than my MS6 even with all the suspension work, and that felt great. I did notice that the exhaust it squeaking, but the X-pipe will take care of that. More pics to come later this week, a good clean, new shift boot, and fresh oil will be coming up for it.

Very cool man. I've considered looking into one of those eventually. It's nice to get feedback from someone who's known cars that handle well from the factory and can compare / contrast them.

I've done the route with my '03 Protege with MSP springs, my '07 MS6 with H&R springs, rear sway/strut bar, and the '11 GT with the stock suspension. Easily the best of the bunch with the GT. Didn't find myself pushing any turns, and I was able to enter & exit many of the turns at considerably higher speeds than my previous cars. I kept it in Sport mode all day, which gave me a little more wiggle room than all on, and didn't find it kicking in at all to calm the car down. I will say this though, the Brembo package suspension is a bit bouncy on rough roads. I don't know if that's attributed to the live axle or the stiff nature of the springs & shocks, but it's more noticeable than I've seen on other cars. When MT compared this to the M3 they weren't kidding, this thing is a true competitor now.

Got my shift boot today, tried to install it, only to find the plastic collar isn't quite big enough to fit around the GT shifter. So, this project is a bust.
