Tuner Works

Hey guys. Now I have my car I would like to start with putting a CAI on, preferably Injen which I heard is the best. Someone told me Tuner Works in Calgary would be the best place to have this work done. What do you guys think? Please let me know! :)

Do it yourself! It is pretty much a bolt on mod so if you have basic tool set and about 30-60 minutes you should have no problems.

Really? I'm not much of a handy man and would hate to mess something up. Is it really that easy?

Not sure how the install for a Mazda3 goes, but usually yes, its a pretty simple 'bolt on'.
Take the stock intake piping off the throttle body, put the new piping on and there you go. Its a bit more indepth but thats pretty much how it goes.
For the protege you have to relocate the coolant res. depending on which system you buy but thats just a couple bolts to remove the whole thing.

My friend bought his mz3 CAI at tunerworks, and installed at Country Hills Toyota. They only charged 1hr install, and it took them 3hrs. The front bumper needs to be removed to install.

I get all my service on my MSP at Country Hills Toyota, and they have never done me wrong (unlike every Mazda dealer in this city)

Wow really huh. I should look into that. I'm really not comfortable taking off my bumper and all that stuff. I would rather have someone do it that knows what they are doing and pay them. At least I would know that it has been done right. Thanks for the tip! (nana)

i can do it for you in an hour.

theres tons of intakes for our cars. do you have a hatch or sedan? is it a 2007?

My car is a sedan and yes it is a 2007. The intake I'm thinking about buying is Injen which I have been told works best with our cars.

I've had the injen intake. Problem with the sedan is that water will leak right into the filter and accumulate up in the "U" bend on the intake. People have fixed this problem by placing a weather strip along the hood "i think" unless the water is coming in from the headlight area. I stopped following the problem after i got rid of the intake.
I've also had the Simota SRI, Simota Twin Charger, AEM and i like the AEM the best.

Wow, water doesn't sound like a good thing. I sure don't like the sound of that. I guess I'll look into the AEM, hopefully there isn't that much in the way of price.

I ended up talking to few places about the Injen intake and they said they have never heard of the water in the "U" bend in the pipe. They said that Injen is one of the leaders and tests their parts fully and I shouldn't have to worry about water in the pipe. One other thing, is it best to have a Mazdaspeed part put on and pay the extra money so that warranty isn't affected? I would hate for something to go wrong and end up paying through the nose cause I wanted to save a bit of money.

Mazdaspeed intake is basically a AEM with a heatsheild. So if you wanna go with the AEM you might as well go with a MSP intake.

Which places did you talk to? Speedtech and Tunerworks? The water problem comes from owners of the car and intake including myself actually experiencing it so i wouldn't trust a place that sells them. Remember it only happens with the sedans.

I don't know if your on ************ but search it up there and you'll find some topics on it.

How would the sedan be different than the hatch? I thought besides the back of the car being different the rest of the car would be the same.

I have been looking into this claim and haven't been able to find any evidence of this. I have also talked to a Injen rep and he said that he hasn't heard about this problem. Anyways, I'm thinking about going Mazdaspeed so I don't "F" with my warranty. Thanks for the info Monkey 3. :)

No problem!

When we were out for MITM some manager from a dealership in Leduc gave us his card for discounts on parts if you want to go that far haha. Otherwise i would order online from a sponser at mazda 3 forums and get a local dealership to install it.

Anyone you would recommend? I would prefer to go with a company in Canada if that is at all possible to save on duty and shipping problems. Please point me in the right direction if you could. Thanks again Monkey!
