True gas mileage. What are you getting?

Looking into buying the 3s. But gas mileage is a concern (100+ miles daily commute). What are you guys getting in Mileage? What engine do you have? Auto/Stick?.

I am looking into the 3s 5-speed. Wondering if the 32mpg on highway is indeed something regular drivers are getting on highway.

Thx.

It is very rare for any car to ever get the actual highway gas mileage listed on the sticker.

I agree. I know the EPA tests are highly unrealistic, reason why I put up the post, to find out what real drivers are getting.

I will on occasion get that mileage, but rarely with my 3s 5 speed. If it is mostly highway, you might get it. My dad has a 3i 5 speed and regularly gets like 35-37 mpg. He has gotten something like 42 before or something, but that was a lot of canyon downhill coasting.

i have gotton the 32 on highway before and that was at a 78-82 type of cruise... lots of cruise control and it was a 400mi drive but i got those 400 miles on just over 12 gallons... so thats just about 32mpg.... as far as the city goes forget what the epa says... (plus my foot is way to heavy to even dream of that)

Lol, that's my problem too. I gotta stop treating the gas pedal like an on/off switch rather than something that is variable. (hand)

3s 5 speed.... i drive a little more city than highway and get just over 300 miles per tank... with a heavy foot

I'm curious what the new ratings are going to be for the 5 speed auto on the S that's coming in the 2006 model. Theoretically, shouldn't that improve mileage?

I dont know if they will improve it or not. Its already pretty good. Also, just to add, right now I am at 355 miles on this tank. Will probably get about 20 more miles

Update: I decided to fill up on my way home from work. 361.2 miles on the tank and it took exactly 11 gallons, so I averaged about 33 mpg on that. Also, only about 60 miles of that were freeway, the rest city, and I am a 19 year old showoff too....

I just filled up my tank and it took 10.8 gallons and my tripometer was at 355 miles, so i think that comes to about 32 mpg.

3s 5-door manual: 31.18 max, 21.47 min, about 27.58 average over 86 tankfuls since Feb 2004.

edit: corrected numbers after checking my spreadsheet

wow, 27-28 avg. that sounds great. i hope this deal works out, cuz i would sve a shitload on gas (assuming th 3 takes 87-89 octane gas). im so tired of spending $250/month on gas.

Yep, she takes 87 octane. Just filled up this morning at $2.499. (protest)

I used to get REALLY bad gas mileage last summer. It was rare for me to get more than 120miles to one tank! But now, I'm getting 24-28mpg. Not bad I guess. It could be better but Im not about to change the way I drive.

300-310 miles/tank. Premium stop and go traffic. Its all in how you drive the car.

I dunno how i drive the car (2.3L GT sedan), but I just did 354 kms on 38.8 L of gas (this is Canada). That is 10.9 L / 100 km, or in miles/gallon, that's 21.5 --- that's not all that great I guess...
