Transmission Rebuild Info

This thread will be dedicated to rebuilding a 3rd Gen manual tranny. I'm mostly interested in the parts that can be bought from the dealer as upgrades to the stock transmission...ie better shift forks or synchros. I haven't been able to confirm that the 626 tranny had stronger synchros, but I'm hoping to get that info as well as part #'s to list here.TheMan's FAQ doesn't cover the updates that Mazda has released concerning the upgraded shift forks or sychro rings. Any info that anyone has please post up and I'll try and update the first thread with it. The 626 synchro upgrade still seems to be a mystery.

There doesn't seem to be any difference between the older 626 synchros and the ones in the Protege tranny's. I need to get some more clarification on this as there is a VIN split on the part #'s. I'll get my VIN # and go back to the dealership to see what the deal is.

I'm going to bring this tread back from the grave.

I just recently killed the tranny and now I need a rebuild. My current tranny mods are bully stage 2 sintered iron clutch, mazdaspeed flywheel, and B&M shifter.
I want to start rebuilding the current one with better upgraded parts.
Anyone suggest anything to upgrade? maybe msp shifter forks or syncos?

are the msp shift forks or synco's any better than the protege5's?
From seaching the site, the 1-2 shift fork is upgraded on the msp but not sure on the rest.

beefier shift forks, different 2nd gear, upgraded synchros, and also a differen bearing design on 5th. gear.... there may be more but thats all I could tell when I was replacing the diff..

Can anyone confirm that the transmissions on a 2003 contains the upgraded parts vs a 2002, ex beefier 1-2, 3-4 shift forks?

going to pick up a tranny tomm.

I did ask the parts guys today, but they didnt get all the numbers. Hopefully they will have more time tommorow.

These are some of the part numbers I got, please confirm these number for I don't know if they correct.
KL03-16-520A clutch release fork
F202-16-102A clutch release fork pin
GC011726Y upgraded synco rings
There is also 1-2, 3-4 shift fork that is a upgrade which is a beefier than ours.

Fromt he sources I have read that Mazda knew about the weak spots on the tranny for the 2002 and upgraded it on 2003 model. Need this confirmed by someone in here though.
